The thing is United should be doing those sorts of deals alongside buying ready made 'world class' (for want of a better phrase) players.

It's not like they are a Chelsea who had a great squad and could add a youngster like this (not like Mourinho would play him), they are miles off the pace with so many holes to fill that it's a bit of a joke!

Wonder why we never took up Ayew, he was basically begging to join us on a free and around 40k wages. A goalscorer with no risk whatsoever for us especially since we probably planned to loan Markovic out. Instant impact in the premier league.

He's bound to have a reasonable buyout clause too if his agent was doing his job right...

Football has been ruined since Abramovich bought Chelsea.

Ticket prices wages & fees all went up exponentially since,PSG Monaco and City have just added to the misery.

Since sky took over the game you mean but yeah I get what you are an about. Can't afford to take my lads to games now which is a shame. It's not the game of the working classes anymore not by a long shot.

Correct me if I'm wrong but this lad has scored 11 senior league goals?

Its also madness to let Hernandez go and go the season with these two strikers.

Wasnt long ago you where saying theyve had their best transfer window and joint favourites for the title....  So your judgement clealry aint the best to begin with :D

I'm sorry but i've never said anything like that. I don't know where you're getting that from.

As for Martial, i've seen him about 2 or 3 times in the CL. He stuck out right away for me with his dribbling ability and pace. Obviously he's a few years from reaching his best but he's the best young striker going. For the immediate future we shouldn't be worried (as in this season), but they've got a big star for 2-4 years time

Hernandez is shit, been declining each season for the last 3 or 4. Stats are there to back it up.

Martial is similar to Mane from the clips I've seen an exactly what Aloysius Paulus Maria "Louis" van Gaal wants in that position behind Rooney. He offers pace and direct running, neither of which Rooney, RVP or Falcao had in the locker. You would of thought Welbeck had that also but how and ever.

Pedro would of been signing a top player because he's available not because it's what Aloysius Paulus Maria "Louis" van Gaal wants from that position. Mane and now Martial are that player, could work out better for them as strange as it sounds.

I`ve just seen they`re about to flog Chicharito as well. Are they seriously gonna go into this season with only one no.9?? Unreal.

This is amateur stuff if they don`t get cover for Rooney.

Depends what they want. Lukaku would improve them in the short term, but I think Martial could be great for a long time (until Madrid decide to use their feeder club).
Lukaku's only three years older than him, he could easily be very good for them over the next 5-7 years.

With Fergie they always had 4 no.9s , two on the bench for when it goes wrong.

You gotta love how they run that club since Fergie left, it makes our look like a well-oiled machine.

Deal may yet collapse according to L'Equipe. Dodgy Google translation, but they're usually reliable. Would be hilarious.

Quote
The transfer of Anthony Martial can hit the rocks after the club owners as Monaco coach Leonardo Jardim and its staff have faced anger. Jardim was promised that Martial, which is a once in a generation of talent for France, would definitely stay in Monaco for next season.

Now, one of England has changed. € 60 million arrived from Manchester United and the owners have reluctantly agreed, after clicking on the player. The objectives were achieved Champions League, Martial would certainly remain, but now the offer has been accepted.

Jardim and staff had planned to build the team around this season Martial. So far he has been by far the most important player this Monaco, and has already shown why he is the most important player in France.

Jardim stressed that if it is worth € 60 million this summer, his system and player talent will mean that it is a player of € 100m next summer.

It does not constitute an unreasonable claim since last year every week, there has been a Scout for FC Barcelona, Real Madrid, Manchester, Chelsea and Arsenal look.

The movement is more certain with Garden make a strong case. If it goes to the next level and threatens his position, Martial expect to stay in Monaco and imrpove even further to become the first French player of € 100 million.

One thing is certain, that appropriate to Martial, they have the talent that will make your eyes water and stand to attention. The best since Zidane but can it match?

When they last won the league they had an in form Rooney, on fire Van Persie, Welbeck and Hernandez scoring at every opportunity. This signing isn't going to make any difference to them this season. He's their Origi

What's the difference in seeing someone twice or 10 times? His qualities are going to be the same during a 2nd watch as they would be the 10th time.

He impressed me as soon as i saw him with his good close ball control combined with his pace. He has a nice shot on him too. Not saying he's going to be as good as Eto'o but he has the tools if he works hard to fulfill his potential.

As i said before it's not all that bad news for us. In the future yes it is, but as for this season, we can be pleased they didn't snap up someone more proven.

Unless they somehow snap up Reus or something....if Rodgers can get a grip of himself, we've got a serious chance for 4th. Their attack isn't all too special.

Rememeber when you said this about a 19 year old Phil Jones..... LOL

There seems to be a lot of hype around Cahill but after watching Jones against Utd, he just seems that extra bit special. You just feel if he were to reach the maximum of his potential, he could end up being world class. He has all the attributes you could ask for from a centre back really.

Amazing to think he's 19! He carries himself like a veteran centre back.

How good can he be?

Ah come on now, catch a grip. Read that back to yourself, see how fucking ridiculous it sounds?!

Why do club scouts bother watching players for more than one games then? You should contact some of the big clubs, you could do all the scouting for them and save them a fortune while unearthing all the best talent.

Goes to prove thata player cannot be judged properly at 19, and certainly cant be called the next Samuel eto'o.

Cos even though excluding addons figure of 60M Euros ( according to that source ) is way more than £36M

Can't it be both?  Monaco get £36m, and the total deal including Jorge Mendes's cut is €80m.

You're right there but no harm is airing your opinion on what you feel a young player can become. L'Equipe article above has compared him to Zidane for christ sake.

Anyway, let's hope i'm wrong and he turns out a failure. That could easily happen of course. A young player needs gametime to develop and he'll struggle to get it with Rooney ahead of him. For his own good, he should stay at Monaco and develop there.
