Unsure what you mean mate? You mean you want a box that you can add a sky skin, auto channel update, record etc?
As i said a few minutes ago i ordered a zgemma for my parents yesterday only £69.50 but from what i've read it sounds like the dogs bollocks.
I'll let you know how easy it is to get up & running when it arrives today/tomorrow.

Keen to see this.

This box with a high speed internet and Kodi sounds like the ideal TV/Internet package for me.

Got the box just before 12pm. took 20 minutes to get up & running.
http://www.techkings.org/downloads.php?do=file&id=526 If you follow that tutorial you'll have no issues.
Box is worth every penny.
Reading the tutorial it sounds anything but easy :) I'm sure it will all fall into place when I have the box in front of me ,which won't be for a couple of weeks as a new sofa is the bigger priority apparently :(

Finally got my box back on the go since I moved in here, however I'm having trouble getting the channels sorted. Below is step by step what I'm doing, and still all the channels are in the same list as the first image. What the fuck am i doing wrong

So I go to plugins

Select AutoBouquets E2

Brings me to this

So I press green for start and I've tried both yes and no for performing an NIT scan

Brings me back to here where I've hit the back button on the remote, cancel, and every other button to clear out of the menu

I've tried this numerous times but the channels are still listed as they are in the first image

Aye mate. The first time I done it a load of months ago I was being stupid but it is a whole lot easier than I made it out to be. This time it was literally plug it in and away it went. Thought I'd have to re program it with it being new internet etc.

Didn't know you'd done it before but good to see it is pretty easy for newbies ,especially with the tutorials floating around. It's the 'download mbop file to usb' and all that stuff that is a bit confusing. I'm not to bad with basic tech stuff usually but downloading shite when it's got some weird computer term attached to it.
I'll reach out to you on FB (seen your name on Shane's list) incase I need some quick tips on it mate ;)

Honestly mate it is nowhere near as complicated as it sounds. I'm not an expert by any stretch of the imagination, i've only done a few boxes.
This box from unpacking to being up and running took 20 minutes. 10 minutes of that was sat twiddling my thumbs while i flashed the box.
My parents, my dad especially is chuffed with it. He hasnt stopped texting raving about it since i dropped it off yesterday. Texted me at 1am when i was at work
over the moon because he had NBC sports and Fox sports in tspanel ;D. The iptv stuff is slow compared to on a fire stick or android box but it works.
All you need is the box,a sub, a flash drive ( quick formatted to fat 32 ) and an ftp client on your pc/laptop. I'd recommend filezilla it's a piece of piss to use.

Ok so problem I have now is when I move the SD channels to where I want them, ie, BBC1,2,Itv etc to 101,102,103..., all the channels go fucked again. I'm simply putting the SD channels where the HD ones are, and putting the HD ones where the SD ones are.

Does that come as standard on the zgemma box as well ?? But presumably not as one of channels on the EPG ?

Yeah mate they're addons in tsmedia which the box comes with.you just have to install the addons which is just
a couple of clicks on the remote. Theyre not satellite channels so yeah not in the epg, they're kodi type addons.

A word of warning to everyone.

As the rest of the fella's offering advice are saying i wouldnt invest too heavily in expensive satellite receivers these day. - stick to the cheap and cheerful. The truth of the matter is, the card sharing days are nearly over - no-one can say exactly how long but i wouldnt give it more than a year or 2.

The HD channels "went off" when sly changed the encryption method over a year ago. They can also apply the same change to the SD channels at any given moment - the only reason they havent is because sly still have millions of Thompson manufactured boxes in people homes and guess what - they cant handle the new encryption method! - as soon as those boxes have all been replaced by Sly then the very next day you cant expect the SD channels to also disappear.

Some feel that with the advent of 4k TV's and the evolving technology that it isnt inconceivable that sky will stop broadcasting SD content soon and the basic will be HD (only at 720p - but thats another completely seperate converation) and 4k will replace HD.

Last season I ventured into an Arab TV IPTV box with BEIn 1 to 15 - this will be the way forward in the future i feel.

Ha ha ... the good old warning that Sky could block SD card sharing at any time - whilst true, they haven't done it so far so there is no reason to suspect this will be anytime soon. And even if it is only a year or two that would still represent a £1500+ saving for some people [ A full Sky with multiroom package can easily cost you £60+pm ]

AFAIK they also haven't blocked all HD channels either, I believe BT Sports HD still works.

I think making the point is warranted given that some guys on here are talking about paying £250 for Vu gear. I've been running all varities of Satellite boxes on static and motorised dishes for much longer than you've been registered on this forum lad so i know what i'm talking about. All i'm saying is dont invest too heavily in equipment - a cheap technomate, amiko or open box is plenty to invest as far as i am concerned.

A simple reminder that it could go tits up tomorrow is important for those willing to part with their hard earned cash.

And a full sub is £75/Month before adding on racing channels, Sentanta, Box Nation, LFCTV etc etc.

If it goes it wont go for long. People have been saying the same since the early 90's when the dodgy cable engineers were selling the chipped boxes.

I know quite a bit regarding the current attempts at cracking the new encryption and believe me, the hardware you are buying now will be redundant if any future crack makes it into the public domain. The cardshare was a hobbyist scene until it went public and any Del Boy with half a brain could download step by step instructions to set up a server. Ripped the arse out of it after years of people developing solutions.

Cheers guigy, something to keep in mind for sure. I was still only 80/20 in favour of getting the zgemma rather than one of the vu solo boxes ,100% going for the cheaper one now.

To be perfectly honest, IF and it's a big if it does come to an end and all the dodgy sky stuff goes black, i honestly hand on heart don't think i'd miss it.
I can't remember the last time i sat down and watched a sky movie channel for instance. If i'm looking at a tv guide or whatever and say ''ooh that movies on sky premiere tonight thats a good movie'', i won't wait for it to come on. I'll go do whatever i'm doing and when i'm done i'll go stream it via kodi. With TV shows, most of the ones i'm into i've already watched them before they're even broadcast in the UK. Got access to every movie, tv show and all the sports i could ever need. With the pvr setup in kodi i've 1300 channels from all over the world. Also, it isnt difficult or expensive to motorise your dish so if you still wanted satellite tv you could go that way and access thousands of FTA satellite channels from all over the place.

I think most people do the cardshare thing because it can be done. I think it's that simple. I'd never pay £70 plus a month to subscribe to the bollocks sky churn out, and there are probably a fair few people who think the same. The only time i sit and watch sky is when the footies on, rest of the time its the kids with the disney channel nickolodeon shite  ;D. All that stuff is available online anyway so it wouldnt be that big an adjustment to go without.

Connect the flashdrive to your pc/laptop..go to my computer right click on the flashdrive select 'Format'.
In the pop up box select fat32 and down near the bottom tick the quick format box.

You need filezilla in order to ftp your sub to the box. It's honestly a piece of piss mate.

I'm not an expert by any means but the key thing is once you work out what to do...you just have to repeat it...and that's easy. Every kind of box has a bit of a learning curve but once you get it, the curve flattens and its a piece of piss.

The flash drive will only be being used to add the firmware to the box so doesn't need to be that big.

Live pause and recordings will be made to a much bigger internal HDD (which the box won't come with) or external USB drive

I stuck an 8gb in the one i set up for my parents. You only need a hard drive if you're going to be doing a lot of recording and saving them.
If you record then watch then delete, a flash drive will be fine. If you're going to save everything you record though, go for a hard drive.

Yeah mate. But as it says in the tutorial, once you've flashed the box and turned it off. Remove the flash drive connect it back to the computer and quick format in fat 32 again. Then put it back in the box and carry on with the instructions.

If using a decent sized USB drive or hard drive to record on an enigma Linux box then best format to ext3 using a utility. A fat32 formatted drive will not be able to save long recordings due to fat32 file size limitations.

The guy who designed the image for the box and knows the box inside out says fat32 so im not going to argue with him.
File size limit is 2gb or 4? Either is ok, average recording is around a gb per hour.

Ext3 is definitely better for timeshift and long recordings. Was it a guy or group released the software? It isn't a vix hack image we're talking here?

Ext3 is definitely better for timeshift and long recordings. Was it a guy or group released the software? It isn't a vix hack image we're talking here?

User sucmnsee on techkings. Yeah it's a patched vix because official vix
wont offer support for air digital products. The official excuse is ' they make clones'
which is bullshit because the zgemma isn't a clone. It's supported by openatv opendroid and italysat.
The real reason vix won't support it is because it's pissing their VU mob overlords off.
The zgemma is an amazing box and for 70 quid, It's shining a light on how vastly overpriced VU boxes are.

The guy who designed the image for the box and knows the box inside out says fat32 so im not going to argue with him.
File size limit is 2gb or 4? Either is ok, average recording is around a gb per hour.

I recorded one of our games from BT Sport HD last season, and it was 4GB for the 1st half. I started the recording at KO and it ended in injury time with "disk full" error. That was when it reached the 4gb limit, so I changed from fat32 after that.

Well yeah, recording in HD 1080 or 720 uses 4 or 5 times more than SD.
My 1 gb per hour figure was based on SD.

Is there much difference between using an internal HDD or external USB drive when it comes recording and playback?
