How do we know the team is exhausted?

I'm making an educated guess based on how they have looked the past few weeks.

All games are important, but overall the Chelsea game is probably more important. Our main rivals are expected to win their games, which will see us drop out of the top 4 unless we get something against Chelsea. On the contrary, 3 points against Chelsea very well might get our season back on track and keep us in the hunt for a top 4 spot and an very slim outside chance of challenging for the title still.

Would like to see
Karius, TAA Gomez Klavan Moreno Lucas Smith Ojo Woodburn Sturridge Origi

perhaps see Sturridge get 60 mins or so to keep him a little rested for the Chelsea game.

For those of you who have never been to a game versus wolves - this is what they look like

always remember him from my early years going the game, I think it was the afro that stood out and for some reason his name has stuck with me.

Phil needs minutes, everyone needs to be fresh for Chelsea.

Wouldn't mind seeing Can at the back in Jurgen's team, he's not effective enough in the midfield unless one of the big boys (Chelsea etc).

             Karius

Trent Lucas Klavan Moreno

               Can

           Ben Ejaria

Ojo                       Phil (60)

             Origi

Simon, James, Jordan, Harry, Joel, Daniel, Bobby

Having seen Wolves a couple of times this season they are not a bus parking team and in fact doubt they are capable of playing that way.

We can't afford to get this wrong. They are an improving Championship side that will be backed by 8500 vociferous fans,  regular match goers unlike the Plymouth once a season outing.    We need to be on our game otherwise we can realistically say goodbye to a trophy before te end of January which is unthinkable.

Got to get the crowd up for the game, that means having a few chances in the first 10mins, they don't have to be great ones, few shots in target from outside the box the at least look good. Do the simple things well particularly if they work like getting ojo up against their left back fizzing in hard crosses on the ground and then bodies in the box who are sharp not standing waiting for the ball.

I'd like to see him stick with Sturridge. He isn't going to start against Chelsea anyway and he is only going to recover form by playing and scoring.

Midfield is a quandry as our senior players look jaded and need a rest (if only mentally) for Chelsea and the kids may not be enough, but needs must.

Wouldn't class either Swansea or Southamption as bus parking teams either but both have played like this against us in the last 2 games. We'll have to get used to teams having back lines of 6 players and 3 sitting mids and 1 upfront looking to play on the break. That's how I expect most teams to set up against us at Anfield for the rest of the season.

We will walk this.
I don't think we are playing that bad. Just luck has deserted us and we have hostile referees(I'm sure Anfield is the only ground
that you you never get a homer ref).
Earlier - the ball comes off the post against Everton and Mane gets a tap in 4 minutes of injury time.
Later:
Sunderland - the free kick that never was - drop 2 points
mancs - foul throw and offside goal - drop 2 points
saints - 2 chances that Sturridge would normally convert - 2 blatant penalties refused
We just need to wait for it to balance out and we will be ready for the run in.

If Wolves knock us out I'm done.

It would be like something that happens to us. Wolves defend like never seen before and score somehow, then dissappear into obscurity never to be seen again.

Fuck me, football really has some highs and lows. 2 months ago I'd have said we'll put seven past them. Not so sure now.

Moreno

Lucas

Ejaria, Wijnaldum and Firmino the options from the bench to turn the game.

Wouldn't be surprised if this goes to a replay.

I'd give starts to Moreno, Gomez, Ejaria and Woodburn.

We need some freshness input into the team and we need to give Milner a rest as he looks done in at the moment.

So the team I'd start would be Karius-Clyne(if he recovers)-Matip-Gomez-Lovren-Henderson-Wijnaldum-Ejaria-Origi-Firmino-Woodburn.

But yes any win will do. But certain players need a rest like Milner and rested like Can.

I think milner suffers a lot from the lack of Mane, without any wide players in the team it allow the oppotion full back to stay wide and close down early. Milner does not have the pace to easily beat a right back on his own.
When Mane was in the team overlapping on the right that pulled the oppisiton defence to that side and milner had more space.
Absolute rule for centre back and central midfield - not allowed to pass the ball to a player in your own half if there is no opposition player with 10m, we need to get back the drive in midfield it was strange watching Matip bring the ball forward past both Henderson and Can we seemed determined not to go forward witht he ball.

I'd give Gomez a go alongside Matip and play either Wilson or Ojo out wide.  Apart from that pick as strong a team as possible and get the job done tomorrow.  Lambert will put 11 men behind the ball and try and nick a goal from a set piece.  Can anyone remember the last time we scored a goal in the FA cup at anfield.
