Not the best game of football.

Delighted for Lucas though - you could see how happy he was to get his first goal for 7 years. Gave a funny post match interview too  :D

Slightly disappointed with the Plymouth fans, not sure what I should've expected though. Our away support was very respectful during the applause on 25 minutes with a touching banner too, yet they start singing the Gerrard song and that ironic chant about Liverpool being grim (Plymouth is a shit-hole). You'd think in your biggest game of the season you'd sing songs about your own team.  :butt

Anyways, glad to get past that round and now onto Wolves.  :wave

Some miserable twats in here. All about the result. Rested the first team where necessary, some time on the pitch for Coutinho and Gomez and a goal for Lucas. And a whole bunch of young lads get real competitive football against a lower league team, but one at the top of their game.

We should have had more and of course they had a few chances - it was a footie game after all.

All about Swansea next, then Southampton in the second leg. Win that and we've made great use of the squad and the youngsters before meeting Chelsea at the end of the month.

It's been a tricky few weeks but we're still in all the competitions we were in going into the Christmas period.

It's been a while since I've put me wellies on and trudged through the quagmire that is the early pages of a post match thread. Why does it always get so adversarial, so early on?
Some of you are like greyhounds out of the traps trying to stick one over on a player, a poster, or both. Thats not to say aspects of the game can't be discussed, but by christ the ones who go the game never get straight at it like you lot, in fact, I doubt they will be three hours into the journey home. Relax and lighten up.

Apart from that we got the result and that's all that matters.

Relieved and pleased that we have progressed to a home tie with Wolves.  Here's hoping they are not too scared to have a go, do not want to see another park the bus routine again at Anfield  :(

Ejaria, TAA and Gomes had good games and with Coutinho picking up some good recovery minutes he will not be far off playing vs Chelsea with any luck.

Looked a lot like men vs boys in some of the play but the youth team did us proud, but we were prevented from passing to our attackers inside the box superbly which made our front line look like a shower of shit.  Sturridge put some energy in but noone rewarded his runs and that awful penalty from Origi will thankfully be forgotten by the weekend midday kick off or sooner with any luck.

No such thing as a bad win. (but if there was, that was it!!  ;D)

Eyesore of a game, instantly forgettable, with a massively changed side that has given our lads some valuable exposure over two games that was sorely needed. We got out of it intact, so job done though. As a team performance that was disjointed, but the opposition had a lot to do with that as they were terrible, but dogged as well. Even the best sides in the World struggle with that.

Onwards and upwards. Need to utterly BATTER Swansea Saturday though. Need to rediscover some scoring form.

Very glad we avoided what would have been another genuine argument about us missing Matip out there tonight. Would have given us the much needed height at the back to keep us safer on crosses and the long ball again. When will these people sort this shit out!?

The pen from Divock upset me more than it should. I've got a thing about penalties. Am looking at him... and he's not looking at the keeper... his eyes are on the ball and all he's trying to do is shut out the noise. He's not thinking here... then he gives the briefest f looks, and then a longer one... 'gave the keeper the eyes'. Oooh, maybe he's doing this on purpose and he's going to slide it side footed to the keepers left... placed, as the keeper has followed his eyes to his right. I was wrong.

Someone calling Stewart a nothing player on the last page.

Seems like some people just aren't happy unless there's something or someone to have a whinge about.

Just enjoy the fact we're in the draw and everyone came off the park sound.

To be fair, this 'someone' is someone who goes about 30/40 games home and away a year and has done for 25 years. It's my opinion; and one which I think I'm reasonably qualified to give. I'm not some faceless poster on a football forum who has 40 odd thousand posts and acts like a superfan who thinks every player is exempt from criticism. I am happy with the result, and I gave kudos to the players and particularly young lads who done well tonight. It's my opinion that Stewart is a nothing player. He is a standard holding midfield player who slows down play with his endless sideways and backwards passing. Anytime he is facing goal in a forward position he gives the ball away. The lad is 23 years of age and his partner tonight - a 19 year old Ejaria has a lot more about him.

Probably the most pissed I have been in my life was in Plymouth - shit beer, Union Street, Diamond Lil's *shudder*.

It was followed by probably the second worst hangover I've ever had.  It was redeemed by having one of the best breakfast bars - Cap'n Jaspers down on the harbour.  Ha! Cap'n Jaspers is still there, not sure about Diamond Lil though . . .

Very very happy for Lucas that he scored but more so that we won. Lets take as a big positive and build on it when we're moving on to the final eventually.
Sadly I missed the match tonight, but I'm glad we got to 'see' Wilson and many other younger players get their chance (again) tonight.

Origi was so much worse than Sturridge, i thought Daniel worked hard and actually tried to make things happen, the service was non exisitent too. We barely created a chance over 2 games.
