tenner, you best give good wanks  ;D

i have saved a lot lately, by not drinking then again a pint of coke or a j20 is almost the same price as a pint of lager in town.

I work in a bar sometimes. Pints are £1.50.

We go through a lot of barrels.

The guys behind these bars seem to be putting a good few bars together.  Hope they stick around and don't over do it like the now defunct Korova group!

Think it'll be the last one. Well that's what my mate said anyway (one of owners).

Oh it's going to be messy.  It's going to be like night of the walking dead, with zombies crawling all over town, stumbling, and bumping into everyone, and having the occasional chew on some unsuspecting innocents.

Looking forward to it.  ::)

Especially as I get off the train in town about 7pm, all sober(ish) like.

Heading up to the City with my boyfriend for the Cup final, as don't expect/deserve to get tickets.

Taken him to Anfield before, day trips, but never shown him the City, so I want to show him a good time. Ahem. Booked up for Saturday and Sunday night. Heading to Manchester on the Sunday night for a concert, so want to make the most of the Saturday/Sunday.

I was thinking of dinner at Albert Dock - Alma de Cuba looks unreal, and then on for drinks in a few of the different bars over there. Not looking for a Club, more a bar (don't mind music but not a Club) where we can have a few drinks/cocktails. What's the story getting into these places for drinks? Pay on the door? Book in advance?

What's it likely to be like on a Saturday night after Cup final?

Any different suggestions are welcome.

There's quite a few nice bars around the Victoria street part of wown, and also up the other end of town around Seel Street area.

Alma de Cuba is sound, and if you're in there later on, might get even better, as the Liverpool team have used it as a venue for after match parties before.  ;)

I think they used it in 2006. Although this time around after a late KO, they're not going to be on the town until early AM, if at all, as I wouldn't be surprised if they stayed in London on the night.

Anyway, I digress.

Good bars up that way are many, but also, if you pick the wrong one around Concert Square area, can sometime come unstuck.

Santa Chupito's, Alma De Cuba,The Peacock, Revolution, Heebie Geebies, and too many other to mention, all within a couple of minutes walking distance of each other.

Nearly all the bars are free, to my knowledge, but I've not done a Saturday night in that part of town for a while, as I'm an arl arse who prefers ale pubs ..... of which there are many fine establishments, if thats your thing.

Anyway, some others will be along shortly to give their input.  :wave

Just in case you're walking around there and wondering why you can't see it - Alma de Cuba isn't at the Albert Dock, it's on Seel Street and about a 15 minute walk from the docks.

yeah, they scan it, to see who your are. If you banned, under warrant, or if something happens in there that night, they know who was in there

http://www.sevenstreets.com/bars-and-nightlife/bars-and-clubbing-announcements/rip-le-bateau-a-legendary-liverpool-venue-closes/

Quote
Some sad news to kick off the weekend: Le Bateau has officially closed.

Amidst a season of venue and bar closures – most notably The Masque, and Static Gallery’s noise abatement notice which means it’s neutered for the foreseeable future – it’s incredibly sad to see the end of one of Liverpool’s longest-running indie spots.
If you’ve ever had a passing interest in a) decent music, b) getting drunk and c) having an amazing time (or all of the above), you’ll have no doubt strayed into Le Bateau at some point. It might have been 10 years ago, or it might have been last week, but Le Beateau’s playlist of shit-hot indie and rock ‘n’ roll, retro classics and fist-pumping favourites has given us some of the best nights of our lives. It’s a total cliche, but completely true. Le Bateau was a total riot: a place where you could dance to Talking Heads, The Supremes and The Strokes like it was the last thing you’d ever do, where it seemed like a great idea to make a move on that person you fancied after 5 double vodkas, and try and spot Victor – the renowned character of Le Bateau, known for his impressive dedication to dance. In short, it was always utterly joyful.

It’s main Indiecation and Liquidation nights have been student favourites for years, calibrating generation after generation of music fan passing through its doors and navigating its treacherous staircase. Great bars have come and gone in the meantime, like the sorely-missed Korova, but Le Bateau’s been the lynchpin in the city’s music scene for a decade. Sort of like your favourite uncle with the most fun record collection you can imagine.

In some ways it feels like we should be jubilant and proud of Le Bateau’s tenure, rather than feeling completely down about it, because not many venues stay relevant and brilliant for so long. It had a seriously great run, and we know it’ll be sorely missed. But those (er, occasionally very hazy) memories will live on.
We believe Liquidation’s set to find a new home, but Le Bateau itself is setting off to the great ocean in the sky. God bless everyone who sailed in her.

It's not possible and it won't happen, it'll just be so they're not liable. Phones have actually been banned in there for years, I reckon they put signs up saying it in about 2002 and I think they're still there.

The are mate, the signs I mean.
They were there when I first went in 2001, before the K3 even existed, and my mate took a photo of them last week.
They will never succeed in banning phones.

the idea is that if you lose/get your phone nicked then it wont be held against them as a recorded statistic when it's reported to the police or an insurance company. and they therefore wont be forced by the licensing police to install ID scanners (see: Heebie Jeebies)

Krazy house has had the scan thing about 2/3 months now. Can see the rest of town following suit in a few years. The reason for the ban is its rife, 3 girls i know all had their phones robbed, and me mate had his pocket slashed in there a few months back, nothing in it though. Low lifes.
