Emre Can
« on: April 16, 2017, 03:39:04 pm »
He's been absolutely immense since he's come back from from his niggling injuries and has really stepped up to the plate big time.

Deserves to get his new contract and hope we get it sorted out asap.

Huge turn around in form

Fair play, he's been excellent for weeks

Key component to the midfield at the moment because he offers that power and physicality that no one else can with Henderson out.  Think he needs to get his head up more and his decision making will improve with time but absolutely deserving of a new contract the way he's played recently.

He's been very good. He should only ever be played as a number 6. He's been shifted around too often and I think it's hindered his development. DM is clearly his best position so leave him there.

So happy the old emre is back.

As i, and many others have said he's a DM not a box to box.

And as a DM he's better than hendo. So when hendo is back please for the love of Christ make him the box to box and not emre.

Wheyyyy

Fucking sublime recently. Both defensively and offensively he's been vital to the side. Love his driving runs forward and he shows for the ball a great amount

Think he could be a great box to box midfielder for a long time

We've seen from previous seasons he's got the ability. He seems to be a player who needs to play his way into form and fitness and stay in the team to get going. He's eased the burden of losing Henderson which is exactly the sort of squad depth we haven't had this season.

I'd shape him into our playmaker (Hendo's too indisciplined to play that role) - he has the composure and the passing range and is able to bring the ball out. He could be like Xabi but without the x, b and i in his name.

I don't think they should, he's really good at doing what he does, dont need to shape him into something else.

They need to buy a midfielder in the summer, but Emre Can should be signed up and allowed to carry on growing in the role he is already very good at.

He was excellent off the ball today. Power, determination, strength.

On the ball he still needs to improve though - he needs to get his head up and offload the ball a bit quicker at times. It's a catch 22, because his physicality helps to give us a great foothold in these types of games, but the lack of tempo caused by him (and a fair few others) taking too long on the ball is part of the reason we struggle to break these sorts of sides down sometimes.

He's a bit of a bully out there...I love it. As he gets older and wiser, I suspect he'll be better at control games with his passing. He has good vision but the picture just doesn't come into his head quick enough at the moment. But when it does, it's pretty.

That moment early in the game where he was in a 50/50 tussle with the WBA defender and threw him to the floor...we've missed that. Haven't had a hard bastard on the team since Gerrard. Things like that matter in games like this against yard dogs, the psychology is important. It lets them know early in the game we're not the ones who are going to be bullied, we'll be doing the bullying today thank you very much. Hendo, Milner and Lucas can hold their own but they never take the physical battle to the opposition the way Gerrard did. More of the same V Palace please Emre!

Can't believe so many people seemingly gave up on him. I dont buy that he can only play 'the 6' either. He was in his box to box role today and he was great, as he has been plenty of times this season in that position.

Absolutely. Best two games he's given us have been Villarreal at home and the City away game a couple of weeks ago from that position. He can oversee the game in front of him and take control of it from that position.

I can't be totally sure whether it's the colour of his boots skewing my mind but he looks leaner as well.

He has stepped up recently which has been vital with Hendo missing. I was unsure about him a few months ago but you don't get to be in the Germany squad if you can't cut it.  Well done Emre for your recent performances hope he signs up and continues to develop with us.

Yep. I have been proven wrong by him. He didn't have the best of time for a while after he came back from his injury but he's been top class in the last 5 or so games. I like how he's becoming a physical presence for us in midfield, he's been matching up well against the shitehouse 'footballers' some of the mid-table teams have in midfield, and I like how he seemingly gets on the nerves of the opponent, they all want to leave a mark on him.

Hope the contract is sorted.

More than happy with him putting in a shift and disrupting the oppposition but it's hard to know if his passing and ability on the ball is ever going to be good enough for us.
We should obviously keep him next season though - there's never been any sense in not

Several weeks ago, pre injuries to hendo and lallana, when he was on the bench, people thought he wasn't good enough for a starting berth. In fact I suspect 70% of people thought that, me included. But since the injuries he's come in, got match fit and is now the closest we have to a midfield captain/hard man. Physically powerful, good in the air, gets around when fit and has an occasional (to be improved) shot on him

Again it falls on where he is on the pitch and how you judge it accordingly. Higher up the pitch, where you need to play around the corner or need to pick out cute slide-rule balls then I think he's well below what's necessary on the other hand his passing from deep on the pitch, his ability to chip balls over packed defences as well as his ability to switch play is excellent, with the correct nurturing it could be top class.
