Yeah Armstrong was quality.
Starting to get back to the Armstrong that was at Dundee United, which is good to see.

Broony doing what Broony does best (and worst) I see.

Indeed. But in fairness to him, they are a bunch of snides who deserve everything they get if it's a contest of dark arts.

Too little too late almost certainly even if we hold out for the win.

Won't you just be a couple of points behind Slovakia for a possible play off spot?

2 points off second with 5 games to play.

Yeah it's not as bad as I was thinking actually but there's a  very good chance our group will have the worst runners up so no playoff position.

Fair point, could need 4 wins to get a playoff spot.

There was one set of qualifying where Scotland were the first of all the European countries to be officially mathematically eliminated, so this genuinely is major progress.

Not really, unless that was the last set of qualifying, which it wasn't.

I think it might have been the last set, actually - we started out by amassing two points from our first six games (followed by a win away in Zagreb).  But yeah, it's not much to get excited about (yet!).

I know they lost 2-0 to Bulgaria, but they are only 3 points off 2nd place with 5 games to play... a bit surprising that.

Nice one, ta. Hadn't realised he'd been coach for that length of time (and there for when they failed to qualify for the Euros) - should be interesting to see who the KNVB come up with to replace him...

Wasn't it Whelan who thought he should rearrange Allen's face with his elbow at the end of the 1st half too?

Game could have easily ended 9 v 9. Some real shithouse tackling in there all game.

yes it was, myabe they aren't bessy mates at Stoke.

Was he even booked? Cos surely if not he should be getting banned for that, I have no idea how that works in international games though, if it's the same as in the prem with retrospective action.

Exactly mate, shithousery all around it seems but Taylor's gets highlighted like he's done a Schumacher all because unfortunately Coleman's leg broke. As I said the other day I think Bale's was by far the worse of the lot.

Scotland are horrendous and it is amazing just how far Scottish football has fallen. The national side is awful and to only beat such a crap side 1-0 and struggle in the manner tells you they haven no hope of making the play offs. I don't see Scotland beating England.

is there a point to these friendlies midweek before league games. Isn't the time for a friendly BEFORE a group game.
I'm in a bad mood after the Lallana news  :P

Anyway, Belgium are playing Russia right now (Mig in goal), Spain vs France later.

2 goals for Benteke, 3-1 half time lead for Belgium.

Mignolet just conceded a dreadfully soft goal in the last minute of injury time to gift Russia a 3-3 draw.

Awful goalkeeping, where he was going a minute before the goal is have no idea? Inviting a back pass 30 yards from goal with 2 minutes to go, mad.

France XI vs. Spain: Lloris; Jallet, Koscielny, Umtiti, Kurzawa; Tolisso, Kante, Rabiot; Mbappé, Gameiro, Griezmann.

Spain’s team to play France: De Gea; Carvajal, Ramos, Pque, Alba, Busquets, Koke, Isco, Iniesta, Pedro, Morata.

They're using video referees for tonight's game - should be interesting...
