No problem with sterling, but stones is very odd...

Except for the fact mane would be ahead of sterling.  Stones is the only real shocker. Let's hope his form holds up today.

Mane has scored 12 goals in the league and hamann picks Sterling ahead of him? Why do so many of our ex-players spout shite once they're ''pundits''?

It could be this....  I can see it happening...  but I can equally see 3-0 to us

Will they be angry?  Will we raise our game again??  I never like trying to call games, but this one is particularly tough..
Tune in tonight for the gripping finale of Reds of our Lives!

I agree, but I guess you could make a fair argument for sterling..   he's a really good player..

Stones is bizarre though

It was a strange game at ours, we were much less cavalier than we had been and defended well.  Aguero was starved out - not a single touch in our box.  Gini's magnificent header and Lallana's delicious cross aside, we were a bit wasteful with our chances and as we sat back I remember getting more and more nervous.

I am all for trying to hit them on the counter, but shit I hope we can try to keep the ball a bit better in the middle than we have done recently and don't just invite them on to us.

Given the respective run-ins for us and our rivals, nobody would consider a point disastrous at this stage but a win would be sublime.

Come on Redmen! :scarf

there is a reason why hamann is a pundit and not a manager ;D

you can see the reason there

just posting this here as well

3 wins in 19 games.

Anyway on to the game. Glad to know Firmino is fit. And Klopp record against Pep is pretty good as well. City at home will be advantageous to us as well. We play better in the transitions rather than breaking teams that have 11 men behind the ball down.

I know Coutinho have been the latest target of criticism but I got a feeling he is going to turn up today.

Gini hopefully to have a MOTM performance and the usual commentary shite about him not scoring away. :lickin

Did Milner not play well against Sterling at Anfield or am I imagining that? What other option does he have, Moreno? Who is great at defending?

You will notice Gini and Lallana constantly helping out our fullbacks against Sane and Sterling. 1v1 must be avoided at all costs.

We need lots of this today. Think we might see something different today. Maybe Moreno will start with Milner in the middle.

Yep- which is why we were so tactically "solid" at Anfield.
I expect the same sort of showing today. Our fullbacks will get adequate protection. Leaving them exposed like other teams do against Pep's City, is just going to hurt us.

There will be a bit of space in midfield from time to time as a result, which is why our midfielders will have to work very hard to close those gaps/passing options and press the hell out of midfield. Hope our defenders push up closer to midfield. We don't want massive gaps/space between defense and midfield because almost all of City's attacking players shine between the lines.

We compressed into a compact 4-3-3 against City after we figured them out- in the reverse, so we may see all of that again today.

Well the manager said he's looked really good in training this week, lets hope he gets his usual goal against City, then things will improve for Phil.

Have to listen to this on headphones in work.  Always a painful experience. I'm never sure when I should be shitting myself. We're good against big teams but It's been a long time since we had a good away game. Probably the two teams who's performances have been the most up and down in the league, with a notable nod to Arsenal. Just hoping our best version arrives. Get ahead and their heads can go down.

Going for 1-3.

Firmino & Mane (2) with the goals.

Otherwise no midfield for city.

Hope we've watched their CL games vs Monaco. We must have spotted ways to hurt them if we have. That they have a dangerous attack is obvious, so we need to stay alert at the back. Just like we normally do when we play the best sides. Should be a good game. Perfect for Mane...
