I really like clyne. A solid right back. Nothing spectacular but who cares, good enough for anyone in our league thats for sure.

Played well today.

Got a great engine!  Just as well really, as he's played a shed load of matches this season.

For me he's up there with Bellerin and Coleman as the best in the league at his position, think all three are quality players.

Great compliment.

Finnan was solid and never had a bad game.

There aren't many forwards who get the better of him on a consistent basis, very difficult to beat in a 1 vs 1 situation, I feel very good when he's in the side as I know he will be a solid 7 out of 10 in most games.

Love Clyne, bit of an unsung hero for us i feel

One thing i never see mentioned that i love about his game, when he gets into that awkward situation where he wants to play it down the line but has a man standing between him and his target, he often pulls a little drag back to draw the player in then plays his pass when the space opens up

Very promising how Clyne looks to be improving going forward & becoming better with the ball as his defending 1v1 has always been superb.

He's mr consistent. I think he's great personally. 8 or 9/10 defending and 6 or 7/10 for attacking. That's okay with me.

A proper defender. I always judge a fullback by the number of crosses he cuts out on his wing. Rarely see crosses from his side.

He has been our most consistent player all season. Virtually every single game he's been very good. I feel completely calm watching the ball on his side. An absolute rock for us.

I thought he was great tonight. His endless movement off the ball was causing quite a few problems for them in the first half I thought. I probably noticed it a bit more than usual because of where I was sat and he was a pretty much right in front of me.

Mr Reliable for us. You never need to worry about him. Consistent 7-8/10 performances. Tonight he was maybe a 9.

Still only 24. Give it a year and extend his contract until he's 30. We won't need to worry about the position again for a good while.

I've seen people say this on here about him literally every 5 games. Goes to show how consistent he is. When the team is playing at a 5/10, Clyne always puts in a 7.

With the intensity Klopp aims for, hope we have a good player to rotate him with rather than cutting his career short. One of the few first team positions we're sorted for, let's not fuck it up with poor 'maintenance'.

He's one of the rare signings we've made in recent times that's been a seamless fit into our starting XI.

People can talk about wanting to improve going forward or whatever - but this season I've seen him come up against Martial, Memphis, Sterling, Alexis Sanchez and Hazard and come out on top against all of them so I'm very happy to have him and at the very least of my worries in the short and long-term.

Cracking signing.

I have never doubted his defending.. he really is a rock. He seems a little unsure or not confident attacking, and I get the feeling his put under pressure too much by his team mates when they use him as an outlet when their being pressed. Does anyone else get that feeling when watching our games? Either Hendo or Lovren/other RCB put under pressure and pass it to Clyne who already has someone steaming up his ass. Its like he never has room to operate when we are attacking.

What a fine player.  He's not Glen Johnson in his pomp going forward, but he doesn't have to be.  Absolutely rock solid, and now he's very economic with the ball.  I think that was feared to be his main downfall (didn't he have the worst stats in the league for incomplete crosses?), but now he's very effective in possession (Klopp had a hand in this I'm guessing).  His ball retention is brilliant, he's always giving an option out right which gives the likes of Firmino and Coutinho more room to manoeuvre.  Really chuffed with him.

It's also amazing to get a real bargain out of Southampton.  Makes a nice change from the royal shafting we usually receive.

Isn't it nice to finally have a dependable player at the back? He was excellent yesterday. As Carling said above, he's not Glenson at his best when going forward but I'll take his overall game anytime.

Funny thing but I always thought he was more of an attacking threat than solid defensively judging from what I saw from his Soton days. He scored in the season opener at Anfield last season and he was immense in the 2nd round fixture against us at St Mary's.
Messi in fact doesn't have a recognizable trait.

Contender for player of the year imo. He has been solid from day one and throughout the terrible form the team was in.

He's more effective than Johnson going forward. Most of the time for a full back, a quick pass and run forward is the best option. That makes him seem a bit one-dimensional, but it's effective. His attacking stats are not amazing, but I think he's been a bit unlucky too.
