Was going to post up about this but seen it doesn't start until January so I didn't bother. Looks really good, the kind of story I really like and with two fantastic actors at the helm, I cant see it not being good.

Looking forward to it. 8 episodes is all.

Shea Whigham, who plays Eli in Boardwalk Empire is also in it. Make of that what you will (probably nothing).

This is going to be awesome. You can feel it.

McConaughey is fast becoming one of my favourite actors, I'm pumped for this.

It's an anthology series (like American Horror Story), so Season 2 would have completely different characters/story.

Ah, makes sense.  I couldn't see Harrelson or McConaughey committing to a series.

Getting some brilliant reviews, I might wait until all eight have aired.

I don't know if you've seen The Shield, but it's loosely based on the same events, corruption in a specialised unit in LA in the late 90s.  One of the writers is the brilliant James Ellroy.

I think it's only got a 6/10 on IMDB, but it's much better than that.

Never seen the Shield, but i'll take your word on Rampart being good. I checked out The Dead Zone and Apt Pupil after seeing your recommendations in the Stephen King thread and they didn't disapoint either

McConaughey's career reinvention has been the most sudden and misunderstood acting turn in recent memory.

Really looking forward to this.

Thought it was a pretty decent start. Pacing was fine as they're just setting everything up, expect it'll pick up from here.

Just watched Dallas Buyers Club earlier today as well. McConaughey really has evolved into an elite actor.

This was fantastic. Wish British TV would take a few pointers from HBO in terms of scripting and pacing. I do appreciate there are budget differences but I'm not of the opinion that it is the budgets which make American series so great currently.

Will give it a try. Have always had a soft spot for Harrelson ever since I got to meet him (very) randomly on a night out on the booze in Rome years ago. He was dead sound even if he was obviously bladdered.

Honestly, I came away underwhelmed on the whole. I'll keep watching to see if it turns around and I thought McConaughey was especially good in his performance.
