I'm half way through the gutter but I need to ask a question , apologies to the mods, I know the VVD thing has been done to death but I need something clearing up.
So we were speaking to VVD, Southampton knew about this but didn't seem to care because we all know this kind of thing happens. Clubs turn a blind eye to it.
Then the club let it out that VVD has chosen Liverpool and it comes out via Paul Joyce in The Times.
I'm sure Paul Joyce is a Liverpool fan right? This isn't a criticsm of the guy, but surely he must have asked the question "isn't releasing a story like this admitting that we've tapped the player up". Did no one at the club realise by letting this out, quite openly into the media this would come back to bite us? I read there was an embargo on the story ffs. Surely Paul Joyce has been doing this long enough to know this wasn't going to end well at the point he was told the story.
Perhaps some may argue it's not his responsiblity to even question releasing the story, he has the information and it's free to air. I just find it odd than no one remotely considered releasing this into the media could end badly, especially Joyce himself. You've got to assume he questioned someone at LFC if it's ok to publish this?
If I've got the wrong end of the stick I apologise.
