I want to know 2 things.

1. Who did he kill?

2. How did he manage to get his arse high enough off the ground to shit in their fish tank too?

Something I've been thinking about is a way to make bans and what they were given for more clear.

This is just an idea so no offence is meant to the mods.

But, what if, when a mod gives someone a ban, they include a sentence at the bottom of the offending post saying something like "This shite got me banned for *** days."?

That way there are little reminders everywhere of what isn't acceptable and it might make some people who aren't wumming think about what they are about to post if they are in the heat of the moment or whatever.

It just makes the process a little more transparent and I feel it will make it clearer to everyone just what is not acceptable (let's face it most people don't bother reading the guidelines and this site is moderated a littler tighter than most) and it helps us get a glimpse of how much you have to do.

Instead of deleting these posts, leave them there as a warning, like in medieval times when they hung the heads of the beheaded.

Just an idea.

Doubt it could work. All forma have to be careful of libel. Leaving the offending post would defeat the purpose. As well leaving 10 dozen threads saying Gobias is xyz cuss words would be offensive. (Just using you as an example and no disrespect intended) Anyhoos, I'm probably being whooshed xxxx  :)

I don't see how it would defeat any purpose. The purpose of banning someone isn't brushing something under the carpet, it's to let them know that something is unacceptable. I think it would help the forum to let EVERYONE know it was unacceptable. And I don't know why you are bringing libel into this? What has that to do with it? And what does forma mean?

I think the forum would learn a lot quicker if there were examples of posts that actually caused people to be banned left where they were.

Gob Ind, I have used the "severed head on a pike" method on several occasions.  On most occasions, however, it is better just to delete the post and let the thread continue serenely, swan-like, on it's journey.  Nobody really wants to see the thrashing legs.

Didn't want to start a new thread for this, but has there been a conscious discussion leading to (what seems like) this new trend where the moderation of the site seems to be extremely against discussion and posts veering off the original topic themes? It seems to upset Mods quite a bit lately and I don't remember this always being the case.

I mean I understand it keeps things tidier but it just seems a bit "controlly" if you know what I mean. It seems to go against the natural flow of debate. Conversations do change and evolve over their course, like in real life. I'm sure we've all been sat at the boozer end gone " 'kinell how did we end up talking about this?".

It just seems a bit restrictive to go "well I've got a fairly valid point to make in reply to that last post there but even though its perfectly pertinent and may evoke further intelligent debate I'd better leave off cos its slightly different to the main thread topic."

Like I say I understand it in a way and you've got bandwidth to consider and have enough shite to trawl through but I just thought there was a point to be made.  :wave

No problem with random asides and interesting diversions mate, they are all good.  I guess where we have a problem is where the threads keep veering off onto the same themes that are being played out on numerous other threads. I think you know what I mean.

The Comolli thread is a good example, as it turned into an Aquilani thread. It wasn't my fault, someone said something very stupid so....ok, it was my fault.

Green mods are the ones who have deemed to have been most economical in their banning and disciplining. Mind you, Pheeny's still got green stars...

As most extreme posts and threads appear either pre or post games then why not ban users in terms of 'games' as opposed to days/weeks?  Of course it may not be possible, being unfamiliar with any technology restraints.  As someone who's recently been banned the most frustrating thing was not being able to reply to the garbage post game (and prob add my own, so no great loss), whereas during the other 6 days it was no big deal.

Think if it's possible bans bould be handed out like yellows and reds.  A straight red, and you're banned for the next 3 games.  2 yellows and you get a 1 or 2 game ban.

Tough shite if there is an international week interrupting games; just means the ban is extended.

Hell no. We check as regularly as we can any dickhead who, having been previously banned, thinks it's "hard" or "cool" to re-register with some imaginative or creative "new" name yet revealing their previous traces clearly visible. If you have any suspicions, use the report function. Any previously-banned entity trying to resurrect under a different pseudonym is Target One For Re-banning.

Clarify. What you got? The "stumped for words" remark could easily be interpreted as "Well, fucked if I knew that the policy hadn't changed, cos there's whoppers EVERYWHERE, maaaaaan?" - maybe I am wrong - wouldn't be the first time - but perception is reality, dude. Be specific.

I think something needs to be done about disrupting threads with the irritation that is Roy vs Rafa. It's like every thread has to degenerate into this pathetic mudslinging.

Can you not just ban anyone who gets into the needless debate. Would save a lot of time. Sorry, it's just posting on the main board feels a lot like this at the moment  :butt

I've nothing against the whole discussion, but there's a time and a place. And most of the threads on the main board aren't the place for it. Besides which it's barely ever a discussion it's more a game of who can insult which manager the "bestest", or at least that's all i can see

God help us if Rafa is given the flick by Inter, the main board will be unbearable.
And when you find yourself along the untrodden path
Remember me with a smile, a drink, a gesture or a laugh
And a toast for the man who loves every hour of every day
And a feast for the friends and faces met along way

I must admit, I've stopped posting here so much recently because of the Roy bashing, although a few more wins and he might start getting an easier time of it. Incidentally, my recent ban was nothing to do with Roy/Rafa mudslinging, I think it was to do with libel...  :o

Sorry lads.
Due to age, sleep in my eyes and a lack of industrial strength medication, I posted this in the wrong thread.

As a way to ease tensions on the main board and to give the mods a day to get together and do their Christmas shopping I have constructed a cunning plan.
Have a mod free day and allow a few big lads to wade into any thread they want, throw in a few flares and start thrashing wildly with sticks, clubs and chains.

When the mods come back there will be birds singing.........calm will prevail and the unmistakable aroma of sulphur mixed with jasmine will fill the air...........all will be well with the world.

Think of it as murder in the dark with a social conscience and a touch of Zen.
The great enemy of the truth is very often not the lie — deliberate, contrived and dishonest — but the myth — persistent, persuasive and unrealistic.

No. I'm from down south. I assumed the ban was down to me spouting off about headline I'd seen in a certain newspaper. So it was either the fact that it was the certain newspaper (that I shouldn't have mentioned) or I shouldn't have said what I said about whoever I said something about.
