Not quite as mental as QPR but similar in that it was a dull game until the fun at the end. Nice to be through to the quarter final and also great to avoid extra time.

Enjoyed seeing Toure trying to organise the defen, yes he was out of position for the goal and Lovren fell asleep but right now Kolo is probably the only real leader we have back there:

Thought Johnno was much better at left back as usual.

great cross from Borini and Mario with a great finish

Sending off was poor after my initial reaction that it was a red

Borini had an absolute stormer. So happy right now, annoyed that Balotelli started shooting from everywhere once he got his goal, but I'm happy that he got it. Over the moon for Lovren to get the winner too.

Well in lads!!

Hopefully the players have confidence and hopefully this is the start of a Balotelli goal spree, one can hope!

Shocking red card by ref. Doubt it mattered though.

Borini played well as a RF in the 4-3-3, would like to see him as a 2nd forward in that diamond thingy.

Marcovic needs to run with the ball more.

Coutinho is class.

Possible foul on the winner, but who cares?

Was that a negative enough review for a win?

Haha, Balotelli's hilarious.

Has a little confrontation with Shelvey, walks away with a grin on his face and next thing he's got hold of Shelvey's wrist on the blind side.  The little minx!   ;D

Well in, Reds. I'm very happy the with the win but we have to be more clinical! Chuffed for Balotelli and hopefully that goal will be the kick-starter for him to knock in twenty more this season. Borini also impressed... Maybe a run of games with him and Balotelli up top?

Surely Borini played himself into the team for Newcastle, especially since he has a nack of scoring agains them!

Best forward on the pitch, bar Balotelli maybe but he wasn't on for that long. He's got pace the lad and good movement, and he's shown he can create as well. It'd be criminal if he's not at least on the bench against Newcastle.

Now that was quality.

Real irresistible stuff, Balotelli was excllent when he came on, showed real character to come back from that goal and win the game like that.

Also, I wouldn't even criticize the defense for the goal since there was a nasty deflection leading up to it (and Brad Jones is a bit iffy to be fair).

I thought Lovren and Toure did well together, Manquillo was excellent, Johnson was, um, Johnson, Coutinhio was creative but his deicision making was poor, Borini impressed me, could be a real foil beside Baolotelli, overall, pretty happy with that.

Only sour note was the daft ref and the tool on Bein sport "the guy not nominated for the Balon d'Or"... thanks for narrowing that down...
