Love it when they do the draw for this. They always describe us as record winners. Always feel proud and hope we can grab another.

"Ball Number 13 is 8 times and record winners Liverpool"

Won a few of those finals by the skin of our teeth like but name still on it 8 times :)

We save our most comfortable wins in Finals for Man United. I'm fine with that.

Although that means we'll have to win it the hard way again this season. :D

Ayala is there isn't he?
Yeah he's still there - think he's starting for them as he was playing against Leeds a couple of weeks ago (went upfront late and missed a sitter)

I'd rather have had a tough draw against a PL side away from home.

We always seem to get embarassed in these type of draws. At least in the past few seasons.
To support a team in success is easy. But, to support a team even during bad times shows real character.

We should give this competition some importance. Its very winnable. Against middlesborough we should field a young team with 2 or 3 starters.
The definition of an oxymoron right here.

Can't really complain with that, a home game against a team who are a shadow of the team they used to be. As mentioned about that game in 98 still rankles with me, should've got through that!

It will be a much changed side, esp since we will have played our first CL game the week before and Everton the Saturday after but we should get through either way

They were both shockers. Boro were managed by the genius that is Bryan Robson at the time. In 97 they beat us in the Quarters and went on to play Stockport County in the semis (could have had a Mersey Derby there!) and Leicester in the final.

In 98 we were 2-1 up from the first leg and then 2 down in about 5 minutes at the Riverside. Dark days! Would have been a tough final against Chelsea but Paddy Berger would have scored his standard 2-3 against them!

A home game would be nice but really I'd be pleased if we just manage to avoid Chelsea and City. And if those two could draw each other as well that'd be wonderful :)

Coming up now, I'd love Newcastle or Derby at home.

Edit: Mostly I just want to avoid Chelsea (because we'd probably lose) and Southampton (which might be even worse, because they've been better than us this season so far and though we beat them it was by the skin of their teeth, and a loss to them would be worse for what could be a fragile team psyche at the moment).

Other than those two, I'd be pretty happy with any of the others, even Spurs.

So are Derby to be fair, no easy ties here.  I'd take either Championship side over a Premier League one, preferrably at home.

The most annoying thing about it was that every time something happened, I kept looking through numerous tabs for a stream that didn't exist. At least the radio didn't keep buffering every few seconds or doing that thing where it stops and screeches before carrying on.
