Hi everybody!

Suppose there are better things I could be doing with my life on New Year's Eve than trying to install a driver I cannot find but here goes...

I have just bought a TP-Link Archer T2U Wireless Adapter 802.11ac  hoping to install this on a Vista Business box I have. The issue is that, even though TP-Link supply a Driver for XP and Windows 7, they don't appear to have one for Vista - at the moment I have the machine on a wired connection trying to search Windows update.

I have seen a tip on their support forum for another device that installing a driver for the chipset may work. Apparently it uses a Mediatek MT7610U chipset - http://www.mediatek.com/products/broadbandWifi/mt7610u - but I cannot find a driver for anything on this website either.

Next step then is to try a third party website but obviously I haven't the foggiest idea about which is a safe site and which is not. I have found one site http://drivers.softpedia.com/get/NETWORK-CARD/MediaTek/MediaTek-MT7610-Wireless-Adapter-Driver-Utility-51250-1539173.shtml which seems to offer a driver - can anybody comment on how safe this site is (or does anybody have any other suggestions...)?

Thanks and Happy New Year!  :wave

OK - I think I found a driver at http://alumni.mediatek.com/en/downloads1/downloads/usb/ but I'm still a little nervous and it just looks like the basic...

Maybe try the free version of DriverMax and see if it finds it?

Thans for that advice, d, but I decided to try that link I found on the Mediatek Website first.

And it's worked! I am typing from the PC as we speak having installed the file.

This thread has now popped up as a Google Search Result for 'TP-Link T2U Vista' for for anybody clicking into this thread welcome and this is what you have to do...

1) Go to http://alumni.mediatek.com/en/downloads1/downloads/usb/ which is the link for the driver - it asks you for a name and email address but any text in and email address format will do ;)

2) Download the file which comes up as IS_Setup_ICS_011916_1.5.39.173.exe

3) Run the file - you have a choice of just installing the driver or the config program as well (I just selected the Driver)

4) Once run you can  plug in the TP-Link adapter and Vista recognises and installs it.

Just run a Speed Test on thinkbroadband.com and got 50.8Mbps (matching my supposed broadband capability).  :roger :thumbup

Thanks for reading...
