FLCL? Its quite short but one of the greatest series ever imo.

The greatest for me. But that's speaking from my 18 year old perspective, all those years ago. It really did feel like it captured some essence of early adolescence in a very sweet, albeit bizarre way though.

Samurai X(Rurouni Kenshin)
Law of Ueki
Rave
Legend of the Condor Hero( Not that much)

Loved them. Fuckin loved them.

More than any movie or cartoon, these shows were some of the best parts of my life.I watched all Samurai X episodes about 6 times, all Rave episodes about 3 times and all Law of Ueki episodes about 4 times.

Doraemon and Dragonball were classics, but I read the manga instead.

Anyone know where you can watch those classics online? Much appreciated.

I also accept recent anime has been fuckin shite, other than FMA brother hood and deathnote, has there been any stand outs the last few years?

If you can stomach a few shades of twangst then try out Code Geass/Gundam 00, and if you can stomach a few shades of teenage idealism/romance then give Eden of the East a go.

I have Watched code Geas, have watched season 1 of gundam 00 and liked it so might give 2 a try.

I'm normally into blood, guys, action, lots of plot type of anime, with a hint of comedy ( gintama, onizuk), but meh fuck it, never heard of edan so I might give it a go.

Someone should do the right thing - go back in time to 1992 and destroy the codes to Championship Manager before it is ever released

Right, in the past couple of months I have got through:

Vampire Hunter D & Vampire Hunter D: Bloodlust - Decent, but not as good as I was expecting.
Blood: The Last Vampire - I thought this was ass.
Ninja Scroll - FUCKING AWESOME.
GTO (the whole series) - A bit hit and miss but mostly pretty funny.  Really enjoyed it.

Currently downloading Fist of the North Star, which I haven't seen since I was 13, and Basilisk.

I've recently rewatched some old Fist Of The Northstar TV and it holds up well.

I'm old school anime:

Galaxy Express 999 TV from early 80s http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Gq-b_iNrQaQ
Space Adventure Cobra (especially the Osamu Dezaki directed movie)
Urusei Yatsura TV and the 2nd movie Beautiful Dreamer
Space Cruiser Yamato from early 80s http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qQ0M0ePMUCM
Crusher Joe Movie http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0913WqJYJrQ
Macross '84 movie Do You Remember Love - The pinnacle of hand drawn, hand painted animation if you ask me.  Yes, even topping Miyazaki. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=u62-J4UlSNw#t=2m30s
Getta Robo TV http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VLtLNoTQuvg
Getta Robo G TV http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=L7-7ffgPAko
Fight!  Iczer One http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Qt_YBVaODEg
Neo-human Casshern http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aG2W05xJ76o
Gatchaman TV - First series to focus on animation of human acrobatic grace http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Xx0vhpG3lLc

I also loved the OP and ED from Babel 2 TV (although I remember the actual show wasn't that great)
OP  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4pytlIS6PHk
ED  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YlL-J16OqLY

The second Mazinger Z OP has a lot of fun stuff:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5z_mran5zCg

My favorite opening sequence is actually Majoko Meg-chan for its fun and creative transitions:  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3BB-gEyvUik

Cutey Honey OP from around the same time is in the same style, but not as dynamic and as much fun IMO:  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DZTNAhYP2A4

Finished Basilisk and it was pretty good but felt almost Western.  Reminded me of Thundercats for some reason.

I'm watching Hellsing Ultimate at the moment and Alucard has to be one of my favourite anime/manga characters.  Just a total badass who does not give a fuck.

Just a list of my recently watched.

Legend of Galactic Heroes. Epic space opera. 110 episodes. Enough said.

Also just finished rewatch all of Initial D - First Stage to Fourth Stage, Extra Stage and Battle Stage. And also that Jay Chou movie of it.

Big fan of Brave Series too. The series features mainly robots with human like AI. In total, there are 8 of them; http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Brave_series

Rurouni Kenshin is still great if you're into martial arts.

Code Geass Lelouch of the Rebellion R1 and R2. Never a fan of CLAMP. But this one really got me hooked.

Yeah. But it was alright to me :) If you haven't watched the OVA Trust & Betrayal, you should do so. It was set 10 years before the series when Kenshin was still the badass Manslayer. Another OVA Reflection which was after the series was decent though many called it crap.

Just finished Berserk.  Tonnes of blood and people getting hacked up and over the series arc it goes from straight forward smash 'em up, to Dangerous Liaisons (or something), to fucked up demon spawn weirdness.

Not quite sure what to think of it all, but it was pretty entertaining.  And Guts has the most ridiculous sword I've ever seen.

Berserk is one of those anime that's made rather incomprehensible because it adapts only a sliver of the manga storyline. Mind you, the manga gets a lot crazier. I read a few volumes after the initial (normal) arc, and the amount of crazy demons and horse demon rape is quite disturbing. Makes Gantz look like Doraemon.

I made the mistake of reading the Berserk manga online in its entirety.  Really do not recommend it. Action parts are really entertaining but it's such a departure into a demon world compared to the medieval European knightly setting.

I hear they're doing the post griffith stuff in a new anime series.  Really would tone it down I imagine or get an XXX rating.

Just for anyone into the typical shounen stuff, Bleach is on it's last legs. With about a fortnight between each announcement, it is on the final manga arc, and the anime is getting cancelled at the end of March.

Wasn't really surprised about Bleach, they'd pretty much caught up to the manga, which would have meant more fillers - which were just absolutely fucking shite. Complete and utter garbage. Not sure how long the final manga arc will go for, but they'll probably pick the anime up again in a few years, just to finish it off.

Been watching the new Hunter X Hunter anime, was sort of disappointed at first it wasn't completely new, picking up from the Chimera Ant stuff, but I don't mind now. Been years since I saw the original series, just hoping they plan to keep this one going at least until where the manga currently is.

Don't watch that much anime anymore, but something I'm really excited about coming soon is Eureka Seven: Ao, a sequel to the 2005 series, which is set to debut sometime this month over in Japan. It's got a lot of the people involved with the original series so I've got high hopes for this, Eureka Seven was definitely one of my favorite animes growing up and if this is even half as good I'll be stoked.

Anyone watched "Another" over the past couple of months?

Very solid mystery-horror anime. Uses the conventions of Japanese high school anime and classic ghost story telling quite beautifully, and adds in what I think is a fairly original twist.

The art and character design is top notch, and aside from a little silliness in the final arc (which anime doesn't have a bit of that?) it was the most enjoyable one I've seen for a while.. well maybe not the most enjoyable- that would be the baseball anime Cross Game, but probably the best- since Haruhi Suzumiya.

I remember this show.  It got absolutely horrible at some point I remember.  should be good for 150 episodes though

One Piece is my favorite.  Still going strong after 540 quality episodes.

The early episodes are the best in the series, and arguably on par with the best shounen stuff of the time period. Once you get to ep 63 you should just stop. Yes, I know you will want to carry it on to see what happens next, but all you need to know is that what came after for the next 5+ years was so bad it forced the entire franchise to get cancelled.

Once you hit ep 17 you won't be able to turn away.

Watching Eureka 7 to ready myself for Eureka 7 Ao. I also recommend Genesis of Aquarion followed by the ongoing Aquarion EVOL

If you want some lighthearted comedy, try Naruto SD: Rock Lee. Spin off from the anime but features Rock Lee as the main character. It's silly but it's really fun to watch.

There was an anime convention going on in Baltimore when the pre season game was there. The hotel was full of costumed up girls and boys.
It was mental walking around after the game on the Saturday night. Down town was full of extremely drunk people in Liverpool shirts and few Spurs shirts and anime folks dressed in kinds of costumes.
When I did see some of the girls, I must admit I did think what fucking some of those girls in those costumes would be like. There must be some freaky sex going down at night time after the conventions.

EDIT - did I bring the tone down
