Great mate, although I'm a big fan of larger cropping (more head, less background)

Did you 'pay' any of your subjects?

Thanks again :) Not exactly payed, more of a 'sharing' goods where possible. Chocolate was always a big hit, depending on where I was. None of these were cropped btw, maybe get round to it one day. This is old stock 35mm that I scanned 5-6 years ago.

V Nice Zero, it was always an ambition of mine do have a go at shooting (camers-wise) the deer @ Richmond park, again many moons ago. Total nostalgia for me, thx :)

Just out of interest how close could you get 200mm lens possible?

I just checked. In descending order 90mm, 85mm, 125mm. So, you'll be fine with a 200mm lens. Shooting deer in Richmond Park is about as tricky as shooting cattle. I was sitting in plain sight on the other side of Beverley Brook. One stag kept looking at me. So whilst shooting the others I kept a little eye on it. Sure enough it came down. I thought it would drink but really, it wanted to cross. It joined me on my side of the bank. Fed a little but kept looking at me. It wasn't alarmed as it didn't snort. But it was uncomfortable with me close, so I withdrew as it's his park, not mine.

They don't behave like proper wild deer. Keep the camera in your lap and they watch you. Point the lens at them and they put their head down and continue to feed. Wild deer would flee as you brought your lens up, no matter how far away you were.

Urban deer are very tame. We get them around here all the time. They wander into my parents back yard.

Appreciate the info. I've come across wild deer in Ireland a time or two...but they are very spookable, you'd need a hide and all the time in the world (days) to get shots like Zero's.

I'd consider them semi-tame really. If you walk directly towards them they'll spook. Walk at an angle to them, looking away but drifting toward them you can get right in amongst them.

This was shot in March. Think how noisy I must have been walking through those crunchy leaves. Most of the deer are still asleep!

I usually credit myself with good eyes...but surely this is a tail - in a tree :) I'm at a loss, can't be a badger up a tree? There's a band/song name in there somewhere :)

Is that a leopard ZZ?

I'm no photographer but got some great shots of leopards from my honeymoon. Sadly the copies are gone, apart from in an album. Had one climb down the tree and walk under our jeep. Amazing.

If it wasn't a leopard than politely pretend you never read this!

It is Nick. You can see the pad of a fore paw, top right. Would you be interested in contributing to a Wildlife and National Parks thread?

That's the apex predator in Sri Lanka, which is why you see them loafing about in daylight.

I have better to come. I was showing the tracker what we'd shot, thanks to his guidance. He asked me "Why have you taken this tail?". Well, because if the leopard decides it wants to leave, that's all I'll have...

One for zero zero's national parks thread when the lazy fcuker finally starts it but we almost got charged by an adolescent elephant on safari. They're surprisingly twinkle toed for such huge beasts!
