Mental how much of the movie that seems to have given away compared to the trailers for Guardians of the Galaxy vol 2.

It looks alright. Wow, how much of that film is the normal Sony Spiderman film propped up by Iron Man/Tony Starkness?

Looks like Keaton plays the ALT Father figure as well.

Didn't mind Iron Fist. Enjoyed it in parts and I suppose Netflix's model means pacing issues aren't that much of a problem for the viewer. The main disappointment for me was:

Spoiler
We barely saw anything of K'un L'un and of Danny receiving his power from an undying dragon. That should have been the coolest part of the show!

5 and a bit episodes into and I can't watch anymore. There's not 1 character I'm actually invested in.

The latter episodes have a bit more action but I suppose they aren't too much different from the first 5. Agreed about the characters, only Coleen was remotely interesting imo.

Only if you feel inclined to mash a weekend into a show that by consensus seems to be 'bad, but not quite as bad the reviews indicated'.

I mean, why watch a bad show at all, let alone all at once to overcome pacing issues?

Teaser for The Defenders dropped a couple of days ago, looks like it's out mid-August.

Anyone still watching Agents of Shield? It feels like this season has been a big disappointment, though I don't think it helps that they take a break every few episodes.

Thor and his bro are more colourful than most of the Marvel Universe, you can see them meeting the Guardians crew.

That will be great.

You know, I really wouldn't mind a flick with very '70s/'80s visual & thematic high-fantasy sensibilities (love some of the framing, colourisation and font{!} in that trailer there), but which takes itself deadly seriously.

Yous feel me? Like a totally pre-irony era vibe. Not so grim & gritty in visual style, instead choc full of strobing neon colour & magic, but just still very severe in tone. Harsh, stony, zero-light-relief blood & sorcery. 18 cert, heads getting lopped off and the life slowly fading from their expression, face-tattooed shredded viking wizards ripping ribcages open with their black spells and eating their still-beating hearts for increased power, impossibly beautiful & athletic (and all-but-naked, obv) valkyries spearing golems in the dick while riding lustrous jewel-encrusted winged chariots, tiny-loinclothed Arnies unceremoniously ripping off arms for their enchanted gauntlets...

<a href="https://www.youtube.com/v/gxzKTbu-aR0" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer" class="bbc_link bbc_flash_disabled new_win">https://www.youtube.com/v/gxzKTbu-aR0</a>

Frank Frazetta, Roger Dean, Golden Axe, spacey psychedelia, all pumped in there. Just an uncompromisingly brutal neon-soaked Conan/Ulysses 31/Dark Souls/Legend/Knightmare mash-up basically, not much to ask for is it.

And without a wink or ironic wisecrack to be found anywhere. To hell with modern sensitivities, both the male & female warriors are scantily-clad and objectified, the represented diverse races are all distinctly tribal and unintegrated; no one's fighting for any noble ideal, and the ones who are just get crushed by the merciless forces of darkness. Everything in the world is simultaneously horrible and beautiful, cruel and enchanting. No Shire, no jaunty flute motifs, just blaring warhorns and the crunch of axe-meeting-bone in a kaleidoscopic haze of intense boy's own back-of-school-notebook sexually-charged fantasy earnestness.

I haven't seen it either, but I very much doubt it.

WoW has an overall visual style that I'm not into, or at least the games and promo material. Maybe the film adaptions will take it in another direction, but what I've seen of all that stuff just kind of annoys me, frankly.

Now the Dark Souls series, that's more like it, for me. For that completely earnest, brutal, ethereal, hideously-beautiful mediaeval fantasy approach, at least. But then, that doesn't have the mad neon-hued '80s-inspired elements that I'd love to see injected into the visual tone - god though, that would be a fucking boss Souls branch-off, like Bloodborne did with gothic steampunk Victoriana.

No surprise but Infinity War part 1 and 2 will be the 1st $1 billion back to back film. Beating the The Hobbit trilogy which stands at $623m

It'll beat the most expensive budget film so far (Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides ($379m))

Obviously the majority of that budget will go to paying the humongous cast

Calling it now, one of the scenes is them getting a "distress" call from the planet Hulk and Thor are on or being alerted to them being there, and they go to pick them up. One of the Thor post credit scenes will be the ship landing and Star Lord telling them they're off to kick Thanos' arse!
