Finally got to hear this properly with the vinyl release yesterday. Stunning, especially the second half.

Horrible to see this though, what utter joyless, lifeless scum these "people" are....

http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-europe-36567863

UK rock band Radiohead have condemned an attack on people listening to their new album at a record store in the Turkish city of Istanbul.

Some 20 suspected Islamists beat up customers and staff for drinking alcohol and listening to music during the Muslim holy month of Ramadan.

Unconfirmed reports said one person was injured in the incident on Friday.

The band described the assault on the Velvet Indieground store as an act of "violent intolerance".

Local media reports said the male attackers used sticks and bottles against those present.

The store in the central Beyoglu district was livestreaming Radiohead's new album A Moon Shaped Pool.

A Radiohead statement said: "Our hearts go out to those attacked at Velvet IndieGround in Istanbul.

"We hope that someday we will be able to look back on such acts of violent intolerance as things of the ancient past.

"For now, we can only offer our fans in Istanbul our love and support."

"I Promise" was released today, with a new/old video coming at 3pm today at: http://www.radiohead.com/deadairspace

Strange hearing this song - it's very much of its time (1996) but wonderful hearing a proper recording rather than a fuzzy live bootleg.

Was never one of my favourites from their many "lost" songs, but a good addition to the recorded catalogue.

Had 2 tickets for the Wednesday show with my wife.

Is anyone driving from Liverpool to Manchester for this gig? No problem getting there but it seems the last train goes before the gig finishes. Unless there are buses I don't know about?

Would happily pay some petrol money for a lift back :wave

Although I do get where you're coming from as someone not so into them, if 'our generation' is mid-'90s adolescence to now's thirtysomething, there's not many rock bands with massive hit after massive hit who can stake a claim against them, certainly not in terms of consistent quality output, adventurousness and influence. Blur?

They probably split opinion a little too much to be in the same pool as the likes of The Beatles, as The Fab Four's experimentations and innovations were apparently much more palatable to a much larger, wider audience. Very few people take issue with Lennon or McCartney's voices, for instance, but Yorke's highly individual vocal style is defo an acquired taste (though it's capable of the sublime). A lot of Radiohead's approach does have a sincere accessible 'pop' sensibility, it's not absolutely wild avant-garde experimental abandon, but it is perhaps considerably less universal in its effect. Some are unmoved by their very best stuff, but those who are are invariably deeply moved.

Watch them in front of a Dublin crowd. I've been lucky enough to see them in various different countries and nothing compares.  There is a real push and pull of energy when they play there.

Weather is currently very grey and raining - typical Manchester summers day really.

Can see the stage from my desk, currently enduring sound check, very annoying when trying to work.

Nope, not really into Radiohead, a few from work are going though.

Heads up for anyone going by car tonight, Village Way which is the road you end up on if you leave the M60 at J9, is closed eastbound from Warren Bruce Road to the Parkway Roundabout due to the new tram works and is single lane heading into Trafford Park owards Old Trafford, the dual carriageway from the motorway is now a 30mph limit too. Trafford Wharf road past ITV studios/ Imperial War museum is also closed - some on street parking has now gone.

Worst sound quality of the four times I've seen 'em, wandered around but the drums were always very low-  but that complaint's just another way to brag basically :)

Feel like I can rest now I've heard "Let Down"

Left a bit early.

OMG some of the fans on the left side were incredibly terrible - one girl and her mates screaming THIS IS SHIT and PLAY SOMETHING WE KNOW!! for the first 6 songs. Wasn't ironic. Sorry, if you don't know Airbag - fuck off to Coldplay instead!

The No Surprises "bring down the government, they don't speak for us" reaction was boss  :)

Worst sound quality

Sound quality was awful.  What a set list though! Really thought we were gonna get Man O War. But can't really complain after that set list.  Shit venue though, queues were bad, food, toilets were bad.   Sound was shite,  but atmosphere ah the end was brilliant.

Also front standing.  There was next to no bass for the first half of the show.  It got better towards the end, but I thought it was quiet throughout.

Ieft after the first encore as it was the difference between getting home and not...

So they were still playing when I walked out round the back of the stage, and the sound quality was much better there! The security had a good time unless they think it's depressing music  :)
