Gutted he didn't score his chances today. I'm sure they will come. I am absolutely loving the way he turns with the ball in one fluid motion. I was crying out for Dahoud in the summer but so far this guy looks really similar.

he's just perfect for this midfield, he really is.

I love how Kloppo has bought in one player, and tweaked the roles of two players and done the hard work on the training pitch, and from this we have this midfield already functioning really well as an unit, yet you get the feeling it's just the beginning of how good they could be. It should be very exciting and very interesting to watch them develop this over the season.

beginning to become one of my favourite players to watch already.

I think there was a moment in the match around the 20th minute where he got blocked by the ref and decided to nutmeg him. Got me in stitches.

Nice enough to apologize to the ref after it though. :)

I love how he when in possession, it's like he has the ball on a piece of elastic and always comes away with the ball. I found it amusing , even when he made a sloppy pass to the opposition, it rebounded off of the player's shin and back in to his possession. [emoji1]

He seems like a less aggressive Kante but with goal threat to me. Has that gliding ability, good energy. Doesn't seem to do a great deal with the ball but a few nice switches, keeps it tidy. Would like to see him offer himself a bit more against the press

good shout that. goes unnoticed at times, sometimes as we know that is not a bad thing as the dirty jobs are being done but still a good point about the pressing.

Yeah don't get me wrong, he covers a lot of ground and is doing a great job with his work rate and off the ball movement. Just hoping for a bit more as he's very skilled I think.

Gini didn't have his best game for us against Swansea. They starved our two attacking mids (him and Lallana) in the first half and perhaps showed Gini as the attacking player he is and not a box to box type that can come and get the ball deep off of a pressured Henderson.

It will be interesting to see how Klopp responds against Man U. If Can is fit enough, I could see a midfield of Can, Hendo and Lallana with Gini as a sub. Or Maybe Wijnaldum in place of Lallana due to his groin injury.

He improved in the second half. Him and Coutinho are starting to build a nice little partnership. Now that Emre is fit again though, he's got a fight on his hands to keep his spot.

Gini is really growing into his role game by game here. He had a quiet first half against Swansea but he had some classy touches in the second. You can see he is beginning to understand what Klopp expects of him. He is calm, collected and uses the ball cleverly in dangerous areas. This was evident in his neat little set up for Coutinho's chance that just grazed the post. If he continues in this vein he will rack up a respectable number of assists for a player of his type.

Most of these individual player threads in RAWK are like side chapels in a cathedral...devoted to a patron saint...filled with the devoted and the occasional blasphemer. But I must jump to his defence on this one...not only Gini went absent in the first half. Our whole attacking 5 took a while to get into the game and have some of the ball.

And as for losing his place to Can, I don't think it is a given. It may take Emre a bit longer to get to the levels that Klopp requires to displace the all-action Jordan-Adam-Gini trio. That being said, Lallana's injury may allow us to see Hendo take his place and Can come in. It would be interesting to see how Can would do as the deeper middie and Hendo as an AM.

Gini is more of a unit that Allen was. I love Joe Allen and if we had European football I imagine we would have given him a new contract. This year is all about the league and being as physical as possible with every opponent we face is important for the type of football we play.

I honestly don't think there's even a case there because I feel more along the lines that Lallana is doing the job Allen was doing when was starting under klopp (he was more attacking than under Brendan) but a lot better.

Even if it was the other way around I'd still say it was the right move because Allen - even despite me thinking he's the second coming - just isn't physical enough.

Have to say I was really confused by this signing in the summer. Dahoud seemed logical... this guy didn't. Suddenly Hendo drops back, lallana goes super saiyan and this guy slots in effortlessly... I basically know fuck all about football.

Think it's Hendo that needs to see off Can myself but the way Hendo is playing at the minute Can will have to get use to the bench.

Gini is physically better in terms of speed and strength but he doesn't go into the challenge as hard as Allen who also shields the ball well and is better defensively in general. The funny thing is Allen was actually starting to get a few goals for us after getting into more advanced positions and has continued it this season with a freer role. I'm not sure the plan for signing Gini was to definitely put him specifically in this position but it has worked out pretty well anyway just waiting for his goals, being a natural goalscorer.
