Don't and never have known why, but I like him.

He's not the best English midfielder ATM, far from it. But its not like he's claiming to be the best player in the world and self-confidence, albeit a tad excessive in this case, is rarely a bad thing.

Lampstd has been on fire for Chelsea for 5-6 seasons playing almost every match. As good as he us, he was going to have a downer sooner or later. Problem with Chelsea is they have a paper thin squad and are too dependent on him

He's right about Barry but he's a bit deluded if he thinks he's been the best English midfielder this season. Scott Parker and Jack Wilshere might have something to say about that.

Barton should definitely be in the squad ahead of Barry though, no matter what history he has. Look at Terry, Cole and Ferdinand. Our Stevie ain't an angel either.

The problem is though, mud sticks.

He might never have another off-field incident ever again, yet the name Joey Barton will still be used as a stick to beat him with or a by-word for yob.

I'm sure there are players up and down the country, who get into bother many many times, but it gets hushed up, or the press don't want to make mileage on it. Yet as soon as Barton so much as gets a parking ticket, I bet you someone in the media will give it air time or column inches.

Regardless of weather he's a reformed character or not, he's a rich professional sportsman, who deosn't speak with a plumb in his mouth. For some, thats good enough reason to kick him, right there.

On a side note. I thought he'd be quite good in American Football. I've heared his clothes-liners are legendary.
