I'm determined to keep myself in check and heed Fat Scouser's warnings about the owners.

I am more optimistic than FS (I really think they do have goodness in them and care about the club and the supporters) but I am very grateful for his honesty and without him (and others, of course, but especially him) I would be far more carried away and that would be wrong. You never know with these money people.

However, I can honestly say that I have never been this happy with a new appointment of a Liverpool manager since Dalglish the first time.

It just feels so right.

Brendan Rodgers' ethos isn't only about possession - although this is the main aspect that excites me; it takes me back to the whole reason I was such an admirer of Liverpool in the late 70s and 80s. You have to dig through his interviews a bit but the emphasis on actually scoring goals is always there.

I'm over the moon with this and, BR, I wish you a long and successful career at Liverpool.

Good luck.

I hate to say it, but I don’t have high hopes for this. This has all the makings of Roy. This man has only been managing since 2008 and has spent no more than two years with a club, the biggest of which is Swansea.

He’ll get my full backing, no doubt, but I’m weary of being positive about this. I feel I’ll remain neutral until I see results.

Welcome to Anfield, Mr. Rodgers.

I am going to when I get chance.

One good thing about this appointment is that he won't be crushed by the weight of expectation or demands because there aren't any. I can see us being midtable or lower and everyone being OK with it. We've fallen somewhat and he'll get plenty of time to sort things out and change us into what he wants. We're a midtable club and likely to be one for the next several years. If it is a long term plan then challenging near the top of the table in, say, five years would be a reasonable expecation. If he gets us all on the same page and playing decent football then it might well be worthwhile. I wouldn't expect anything short term though personally.

Might as well put your feet up, expect nothing and chill. I'm going to :)

Welcome Mr. Rodgers.

Aye, he's definitely not a short-term appointment.

How is it in any way comparable to Roy? One has been playing the same way for 35 years and we never expected anything different at Liverpool. One is a young manager with very little experience but who clearly tries to play in the right way.

Yes it's a gamble but in terms of appointmenst the two are chalk and cheese.

I really think FSG are in it for the long run and are trying to build something, and a young up-and-coming manager with a positive footballing philosophy is part of that. Hopefully many of us will be pleasantly surprised what kind of players they go for and what kind of football is put on show.

Welcome Brendan!

I wish you all the luck and support in the world, you will need it!

Might as well put your feet up, expect nothing and chill. I'm going to :)
One thing does need to be said: in the post-Benitez era, there was media-led clamour (but also some politicking going on at the club) to make the club more English; the idea being that the club had lost the very essence of what it means to be ‘Liverpool’. Guillem Ballague 18/11/10

What's done is done.

He was my second-choice after Klopp, as Rafa was never going to be picked sadly.

Onwards now. Swansea played good football under him. His style could suit our better players.

As the guys at RAWK said... we should be supporting the manager %100... plus, he has ONE heck of a job ahead of him to bring this club back to glory day...

Honestly know nothing at all about the man. Not who he's played for or anything about him.

Time to Google our new manager I guess.

I'm super excited now. I can't wait for Toronto to see how he manages and I can't wait for August to see it count. Again, I'm weary of what will happen, but his Swansea team did well and the way our team has improved in the last months, I think we'll be fine, but I'm still terrified of what will happen.

How has it got the makings of Roy? Shocking stuff.

Exactly.

Look at the 'Hodgson appointed thread'. Look at the owl-faced c*nts history. Look at the football his teams play. Truly shit on a stick.

I wasn't comparing their managerial careers, I was saying it could be a total flop.

But I'll support him all the way and I really want to see how he manages. If he's a huge success then I'll be happy he puts all my speculation to rest. I'm still freaked a little...

Surprised, not very excited but he'll have my backing as he seems to tactically very good whether he can handle this big one only time will tell, I hope so because as far as i'm concerned I want to win every game and he'll get a clean slate from me like I did with Hodgson

Pleased with this appointment. Rodgers emphasis on a high line, constant pressing and possession-based football is an exciting prospect. However an experienced Sporting Director/DOF is needed alongside him.

Everything I have read on Rodgers is positive, yes he hasn't managed a big club, but his philosophy and beliefs sound right. So lets get behind him, if the players believe in him then he could be a great appointment. Lets be optimistic - you'll feel so much better!

I still hate the fact that Kenny's gone and that Rafa wasn't considered. But we have to move on.

Support and give him time.

The likes of Pepe(Rodgers loves a sweeper keeper), Lucas, Henderson and Agger will thrive in his system. Charlie Adam may not.
