Random one, but is there any ale houses/bars in town which will be showing the derby, that you can pre-book a table. Once upon a time the Flute & Firkin used to do it, but now its first come first served.

We are out with a mix of reds and blues (about five of us), and last time I got in the Rose & Crown for 11.15am and it was rammed.

Should be able to do that in Tribeca.

So took a bird to that berry n rye last night on a date and it was boss. She was absolutely made up with it too, surprised when i started knocking on random doors in the street asking what the hell i was doing. Girl who served us was absolutely lovely, great atmosphere and setting.

Only tiny downside is the size of the cocktail you're paying 7/8 quid for. They are absolutely gorgeous though and we both got pretty drunk so they did the trick!

Heading over for the Boro match next week.

Freshers is on or so I'm told.

Any good spots? I'm not too familiar with Liverpool night-life.

If you want to be out with all the students you can't go wrong with around Wood Street, Seel Street and Slater Street. Be loads out with it being freshers as you say but normally the busiest student night is Thursday night.

I was back earlier in the year and was shocked how quiet Liverpool seemed compared to when I was a student.

Maybe it was just me and the pissheads on my course, but it felt like every night town was bouncing

Just came in to ask about Berry and Rye.

It's a great little place that, loved it every time I have been.
We already have shit in the country, and the game of Liverpool fills life with joy. Thanks

Anybody know what happened to that bar that was supposed to be opening soon that was going to sell a really high % beer (tactical nuke penguin or something) that the police were kicking off about? Did they scrap it?

Tried the Clove Hitch on Hope Street for the first time on Saturday. Very, very impressed - nice little beer garden and  plenty of decent ales to try. They are selling stuff from Liverpool Organic and loads of guest ales.

Also had a look at Fredericks which is next to the Phil on Hope Street, again - decent place, if the weather is good the barman happily brings your drinks out to save you getting up!

Absolutely love afternoon beers in town on a Saturday.  :D

you really cant knock the place its great i dont get there enough!

Alright guys. I will be back in Liverpool for the derby, where is the best place to go for a drink in the evening after the game? I use to spend alot of time in the bierkeller. Is that still worth a visit?

Some pointers please people.

3 couples visiting this weekend, aged 35-40, staying at the Hampton by Hilton on the waterfront.

Friday looking at food followed by chilled beers/cocktails
Saturday, boys watching the game, women off shopping, food, get ready to hit the town for a more 'lively' evening then club.

Areas to avoid, good eateries, decent cocktails bars - all info welcome

Avoid Concert square and Matthew st at all costs.

Heard very good things from a friend about the bar.

I'm moving from the city centre to Aigburth/St. Michael's in a few weeks.

Any recommendations on where to go/where to avoid?

The Fulwood Arms looks like it could be my new local - never been in it, what's it like?

What are the best bars on Lark Lane?

Any advice would be appreciated.

£3.20 for a pint of lager or cider in the Sandon.

It's £1.90 a pint and £2.30 a pint in Kozys and the Rose and Crown in town.

Good weekend had by all, although Berry & Rye tarnished it slightly.  Got there at 11.00 and the doorman says come back in half an hour as they're busy, so did just that only to get told to come back in half an hour coz we're busy......i reminded him he had said that to us half an hour ago, to which he said it was one in and one out.....would have hung around if we had known that, he sort of shrugged his shoulders in a 'what do you want me to do about it' kind of way.  I guess its a gem if you get in, but dickhead doorstaff certainly dont help the rep of the place.

Berry and Rye is flavour of the month so to speak so can have an attitude, it is not very big, is expensive as fuck, so doesn't really need to try too hard to get people in, it is hipster central at the mo. Thought it was OK when I went but nothing more, mind you I am probably not its target audience :)
Also I think the prices help keep the knobs out, which is in its favour.

He probably thought we would be those knobs :)

To get there, we had to go through Concert Sq - and i can understand why someone said to steer clear, scallies, missing teeth, bouncer beatings, and some people were a right state -  but we did go into Moda/Mojo/Moji (whatever it was callled), the women needed the loo so we went down to the bottom floor - it was deserted, but the music was good, playing some old school dance tunes and the drinks were not too bad (unless you had something that wasn't one their menu, then the prices shot up)

Has anyone tried this new Irish gaff on Victoria Street - Molly Malone's?

I have heard a few mixed reviews such as limited amount of ale, plastic glasses (new ones not delivered yet) - but could put that down to teething problems.
