I have to say I am a little bit cynical about the club's motives for doing this now.

The reason has already been linked in this thread - http://www.liverpoolecho.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/sn-liverpool-took-28-years-12587844.

As mentioned by others, very surprised to see this wasn't the case already. Way, way overdue. Disappointing that it wasn't enforced sooner but happy that we won't see any of their scumbags at our ground now.

The difference between the S*n and any other atrocity is they aren't sorry. They weren't sorry in 1989 and they sure as hell aren't now.

They are only sorry they got called out and proved to be liars, just like the police.
Exactly right.

Well done to everybody who got this done.
Hope it stays in place forever.

Fucking slime wankers,  really would like to see Murdoch end his days behind bars.
Not that he will, but fucking hell, I hope he does. So much blood and hurt on that fucker's hands.

It is a machine. It is more stupid than we are. It will not stop us from doing stupid things.

Ive just come in here to ask the same question. I assumed we could not ban them due to some PL rule or something. To find out that we could have banned them but took till now is strange.  Especially as Ellis retired years ago. I have read teh article and it still doesn't really explain it for me.

Anyway goodbye, good riddance.

As I've said before, the Full English is just the base upon which the Scots/Welsh/NI have improved upon. Sorry but the Full English is the worst of the British breakfasts.

So there's no debate, the campaign continues.

Or maybe FSG just listened to the people behind the campaigns?

28 years too late. Why now?

Sky are going to have it in for us now, so it will have a damaging effect on us (although I support the ban and it should have already been in place).

It's not as if there's a blanket ban on News Corp, if that lot still want quotes they'll get it from secondary sources from the Times/Sunday Times.

Anyway, like most people I'm disappointed it's taken so long but at least now done. Doesn't matter what generation of journalist finds refuge there the disgraceful content that paper leads with never changes.

Protest outside Goodison Park over Everton's decision NOT to ban the S*n

http://www.liverpoolecho.co.uk/news/liverpool-news/protest-outside-goodison-park-over-12750530#ICID=Android_EchoNewsApp_AppShare

“We negotiated with both clubs for months asking them to reflect the wishes of their fan bases.

“Both clubs indicated they would stand together.

“We don’t understand why Everton FC Directors would now say that they don’t think EFC fans want them to take the same stance that LFC has.

“We call on EFC directors to reflect the wishes of their fans and disallow access to all S*n personnel to all club premises.”

What kind of idiots are on the board of Directors at Everton? I don't know a single Everton fan who'd get angry at them banning The S*n

Not sure why Everton wouldn't follow suit given their excellent support for the Hillsborough campaign over the years. I can't imagine it would harm the club financially or anything like that.
