I just hope sobering lessons for the future tenure of Klopp can be learned from the manner of their witch-hunting of Rodgers by the currently heinous fan-base we seem to have been landed with.
Sorry but I'm getting a little jaded here of blanketing our entire fanbase with this name or that name. One look at the new boss gifsteria thread shows you the common joy and total unity that our fanbase has when given some hope, given something to believe in after being underwhelmed week after week with a manager that called it a constant 'rebuild'.

Chops calls the fanbase wankers, now we're heinous as well, and for what? granted some elements went personal, name called and that was totally out of order, but was that everyone? Did anyone hold a mass "Rodgers Out" sit in protest and hold banners to that effect at the game? Did anyone hold a march to Ayre's office or take an ad out in a Boston newspaper?

I don't see why it's hypocritical to echo Brentie's original post, which is to say we were all mesmerised by the title chasing season, we all dreamed and we were all part of something special that nearly came off, and for his role in that Rodgers can and must never be ignored. However, we can also say that it became more and more painfully apparent that -for whatever reason- it wasn't working anymore, things changed and the magic, the thrill, the pace and fluidity had gone out of our performances.

If the feelings are indeed mutually exclusive, then I don't see how those who wanted Rodgers be given more time are pleased with Klopp's (or anyone's) appointment? by that definition Klopp shouldn't even be here, we should still be under Rodgers, thus you can't be a part of whatever Klopp achieves because you never wished for him to be here in the first place. How is it not hypocritical to ask for more time for Rodgers and yet be delighted with Klopp's appointment?

As I said in an earlier post it's all moot now as the club clearly had their eyes all along on the prize of Klopp.

But as regards your own irritation/puzzlement I can only call it as I see it through my own eyes. Namely the eyes of an extremely long standing fan from pre-Shankly times. I don't expect to see a fan base mirroring my own sense of loyalty to the one time cast-in-stone LFC ethos of managerial loyalty.

However, I'm not simply going to stand by and not utter a comment when I see what I term a lack of patience, understanding and loyalty. I never thought I'd see so much of that fan base so ready to discount quite so voraciously the qualities that the current manager had manifested in the season and a half during which his team amassed more points than any tother side. Or that they'd be so hellbent on his removal that they'd be quite so unwilling to acknowledge the colossal impact of the mitigating factors which played such a part in the bad elements of last season's demise.

I get that Timbo, but in your original reply to my post you stated that thinking that it was the right time for him to go was "stabbing him" and had a touch of hypocrisy.

I don't really understand why you'd say that considering you've stated yourself there was a huge case for him going, especially with Klopp available.

I don't really understand where the counter argument is- but I completely agree with you that the way some elements of our fanbase went on a Rodgers out offensive, which was extremely personal at times, is shocking.

My counter is simply that I cannot reconcile - I repeat I cannot reconcile - yours and Neil Atkinson's fulsome praise for a manager who almost pulled off a miracle with his team playing uniquely spectacular football with your readiness to see him dispensed with after the collapse of form since last march.

I cannot put my bewilderment at those colliding sentiments any clearer Brentie. That's all there is to it. We should just move on I think.

Footballing success is decided upon such fine margins. So close and how great it was to be with Brendan's Reds during 2013/14.

Surprised he got another go at it after the months leading up to the 6-1 loss at Stoke. Those performances, between Manchester United at home in March and away a few weeks ago, did for him. Lost his way badly after the United defeat last season.

Best of luck in the future to the fella. Thanks for those wonderful and gloriously unpredictable months from November 2013 to May 2014. What football is all about.

All other threads are locked, inc the one saying he was on Goals On Sunday. In that thread there was no link to the interview, which I found interesting, especially about the Owners/TC.

Here is the interview and obviously I get why the mods will lock it as it will descend into a, he was shit, he came close blah blah blah slagging match of pointless bollocks.

Brendan was also on MNF chatting with Jamie Carragher about us which I found very interesting too.

Finally they covered our game against United.

We may sign Salah, but I'll show my arse in the middle of town if we sign one of VVD or Keita. Not gonna happen.

I posted Rodgers quotes from the past that refuted what he said on Sunday, but it seems they were too offensive for some mods and got deleted.

Very interesting videos, thank you for posting. Undoubtedly there will be people using it to make digs against Rodgers but he is clearly an intelligent guy who was so close to getting things right for us. It's such a shame how it ended and I won't go over old ground but I really believe at the right club he can go on to have a very successful career in management.

He just can't be in charge of mediocre club then.

When we had the likes of sterling Suarez and Sturridge.. It's obvious he can make a team work. (well I guess many other good managers).

It's just he has a problem finding good talent on a budget. He talks on how we missed out on Sanchez.. OK that's all well and good but what about his signings in Allen borini benteke.. List goes on.

He needs a proper DOF whether he likes it or not cause he's a good coach. I just think he's too stubborn to realise that he's not a good scouter of talent as he think he is.

They were off topic, and you are not going to have the same godawful transfer committee debate in yet another topic.

Speaking of which... As Brendan is no longer our manager, and this thread has ran its course, any discussion of him can take place in the General Football forum.
