We need to basically get a manager in who other teams will shit themselves at. A winner, a truly world class manager.

Otherwise were finished. At least under this ownership.

Literally the reason this would make sense.

Gotta hope the owners have the replacement lined up already and we don't doss about for a few weeks now.

Given the timing, surely they have someone signed up? Madness otherwise.

And so it begins again already... What hope has any new manager got.
What begins??

He has named the only 2 managers currently available who would be worth sacking Rodgers for

Sad, I really liked what he'd done but he needed a much better start to the season than he's had to get more leeway. I hoped we'd be back on track this season after last but the players have looked uncertain. It's a real shame.

That season of nearly winning the league was incredible, some of the most wonderful football I've seen a Liverpool team play. Exhilarating and joyful. Good luck to him wherever he goes next.

Farewell Brendan. Time to get down to business.

FSG usually do these in threes. Next up Ayre and the non-FSG transfer committee members.

Thanks for 2013/2014.

Indeed.

Not sad, funnily enough now it's announced (half an hour after remaining one of the few thinking he could turn it around). He's a big boy and a rich one, and will get another job quick enough (possibly in Sunderland). Funnily enough I was sat there wondering what it was exactly that had me 'keeping faith', as there's plenty to be critical of.

Odd not to get rid in the summer, if it was close enough that a stumbling, mid-table eight games would be enough to trigger it.

The focus now should not be on who the owners are, but limits on what owners can do without formal supporter agreement. At all clubs.

Whoever is hired I think it's good that FSG have acted early in this international break instead of waiting until next week. Hopefully they have someone good lined up to take over immediately, though thy should probably let the news about Brendan sink in for a few hours before revealing the new guy.

Yeah they are referencing some other paper though, so no idea how accurate that is.

Swedish Silly Season site had the same info this morning. Some Bosnian newspaper and the link was "credible" because Klopps aid or assitant or something is from there.

In all seriousness, though, if they can't land Ancelotti then it has to be Klopp.  But just imagine if they could get Ancelotti?  One of the 5 best managers on the planet?  What a coup that would be.  Especially given the current standing of the club.

My wishlist ranked:
1. Ancelotti
2. Klopp
3. Sell the club

Thanks for taking us closer to the title than anybody else since we last won it.

A decent man that gave it is all, met him a few times outside Melwood, always found time to talk to everyone.

Hope he finds success in the future. The pressure is definitely on his replacement..so good luck to whoever takes over.

Days like this always leave a bad taste, for whatever reason it means the club is not in a good position and if things don't improve a sacking, then what next?

Further sackings and so and so on.

He will get a new job quickly.

He should manage in Spain or Germany to broaden his experience.

But he will be warmly welcomed back.

I suspect he knew a day or two back which is why he talked about the problems he or someone else would have with youngsters.

Yeah, good luck Brendan, always been respectful of the fans and club, can't knock him for that. Also for providing one of the best seasons in recent times. Been unlucky with losing World Class talent, not being able to recruit similar, and key injuries. All the best.

I can only believe that this has happened because they have had word from whoever their first choice replacement is that they were ready to come now, and with other clubs looking (or perhaps soon to be looking) for new managers the owners felt they had to make the move now for fear of losing out on that replacement.

Although I cant argue with the decision I cant help but feel upset. He was a good man and I did his best for us.

I think this job was a bit to soon for him. I think he will go on to be a successful manager.

Thanks for 13/14 Brendan.

Well put.  I don't look forward to all of the 'good riddance' and generally classless messages that this board will shortly be inundated with.

Thanks for 13/14 Brendan, you are a class act.  Good luck.

First of all. There is no celebration in this. This wasn't Hodgson. He should be proud of the 2013 season. He'll find another club very quickly and will find success.

But this is Liverpool and we should be expecting the best. We have not seen the best this season. He lost the fans and there is no way back from that

Hopefully this is followed by Ayre and the disbanding of the transfer committee.
Then in the midddle out pops a smiling glen johnson pulling up his jersey to reveal a t-shirt of suarez with a text saying. "OUR SUAREZ IS A FRIEND TO ALL COLOURS!"
