They probably well will.

For the record - why the fuck people are flapping abar tough starts is ridiculous. Worrying abar this that and the other is queggy-flap-blert syndrome at it's best.

Can't tell you the goals like, but 10 points is well, well achievable.

Now lock this shit.

PS. We're at least getting a point at Arsenal.

I think we're going to struggle with the start we've been given, mainly due to our defensive frailties and the midfield I believe Brendan will field.

Stoke: 1
Bournemouth: 3
Arsenal: 0
West Ham: 3
Manure: 0

7 points, though I've given us the benefit of the doubt for the opening fixture, giving us an extremely hard fought draw.

11 to 15 points. We have again spent a lot of money and with that comes expectations to do well. We need to be competing against Arsenal and Its si we should be getting at least one point from each game against them.

True but we have spent big. Respect each team but we should be beating Bournemouth.

Ten, optimistically going for the same sort of pattern that we started with in 2013/14. My memory may be faulty, but I think we did most blocks of 5 with 3 wins a draw and a defeat.

18.

Think there'll be an inquest if we have 18 points after 5 games mate!  ;D

For what its worth, I think we'll get around 8 points.

Stoke: 0
Bournemouth: 3
Arsenal: 1
West Ham: 3
Manutd: 1

I've gone for a loss in the 1st game. Absolute nightmare 1st fixture. Its a huge ask to go there on the 1st game of the season and win, it really is. Stoke have been in the PL for 7 years now and we have only beat them once in the league and lost 4 times, so that shows how tough it is. Its such a horrible place to go. Not many teams will get a result there so its not the end of the world if we do end up coming away with a loss but if we do take anything from the game it'll be a massive unexpected boost. Our results against Arsenal & UTD will be more pivotal at the end of the season in my opinion.

If we can come out with 8 points or more in the first 5 games, then we'll be well on course to have a great season. Other teams will likely have more points than us after 5 games, but considering the difficulty of our start, 8 points would be a decent score.

The important thing is to win our home games and avoid defeat against the top 4.We cannot afford to do as badly against the top teams as we  did last season. Reverse the results against UTD in both games and we'd be playing CL football this season.

Generally I look for an average of two points per game.

That would give us 76 points over the season, which 9 times out of 10, is enough to get top four.

I expect 15 though.  But we need 10 really to be on target of top four.

However I hope the target is to challenge for the league.

Ask me one moment and I'd say 7, ask me half an hour later and I'd say 11/12 (or vice versa). There's really no way of telling how we (or our opponents) are going to start, and with 3 incredibly tough away games and a promoted team in our first 5 it's a fool's errand trying to predict stuff right now. I will however be happy if we were able to take points off one of Arsenal/Man U, and delighted if we could take points off both (ecstatic if we could get a win). With such a tough start this year its hugely psychologically important that we don't let our rivals pull away from us too much early on.

Stoke (A) - 1 pt
Bournemouth (H) - 3 pt
Arsenal (A) - 1 pt
West Ham (H) - 3 pt
Man Utd (A) - 0 pt

8 pts I've gone for. Tough start. Players getting revenge on Stoke could be massive.

Does the thread read 'how many points do you want in the next 5 matches'?

Yes, I want 15 points, but if I had Ł1000 and had to put a bet on how many points we'd have after 5 games, it wouldn't be 15. That's heart over head.

Get it??  ;)

You seem to have missed the word 'expect' in the title...we all want to win every game, but I certainly don't expect us to. What's wrong with people having a crack at predicting our points returns? Gives us something to do as we wait impatiently for the next game...

Away v Stoke - 3p
Home v Bournemouth - 3p
Away v Arsenal - 0p
Home v West Ham - 3p
Away v Man Utd - 1p

10 points

7 blocks of 5 with 10 points each on average makes 70 points. 6 point from the remaining 3 games should put us 3rd or 4th at least. Lost points needs to be won back in later blocks, blocks of more than 10 points is a bonus to make us aim higher than 4th.

Benteke likes playing Arsenal, if memory serves - and barring the SAS utterly destroying them at Anfield, we haven't sneaked a win against them in ages (...I think?)... I reckon we'll beat them and thus increase expectations to unrealistic levels.

Stoke - 3
Bournemouth - 1
Arsenal - 3
West Ham - 3
United - 0

10 would be decent.

In a way it's not too bad playing the big games early, remember beating arsenal early in the campaign under kenny when they were a mess. it can of course work either way but we won't be expected to take points at the Emirates or old Trafford anyway, if we can play them before they get in any sort of stride it might give us an opportunity to catch them cold.

To answer the original question, somewhere between 0-15

Wouldn't be a bad start, maybe a point within par for top 4. 3 tough aways in there so not a total disaster if less.

They always start strong. Similar to Southampton, Newcastle and Chelsea.
