Luxembourg? Are the Scottish clubs deliberately trying to make fools of themselves in Europe?
Rangers-Malmö 0-1* (a Malmö in 2011 that was a midfield team in Sweden that season, not the home team Olympiakos and Celtic-beaters of 2014-15)
Hibs-Malmö 0-7
Lincoln-Celtic 1-0
... and now this... okay, granted 0-7 to Barcelona can happen. I don't blame Celtic for that particularly but those other results are simply unacceptable for a league with full professional footballers. The Scottish league ought to be better than the Scandinavian leagues considering the Glasgow teams are there to prop it up, but embarrasingly enough it's been overtaken...
To put it like this: had Malmö played in Scotland last year with their current squad they'd given Celtic a title run for their money even with the improved Celtic under Rodgers. That's for less TV revenue as well, still Malmö can sign a player from the same league for 1.3 million thanks to the European success and also regularly ship players for 2-3 million. No way Aberdeen could or would do that.
Let's see if Aberdeen can surprise and go all the way to the group stage this season only because I wrote this post
