The horse-face is constantly saved by Puyol and Pique, yet he was having a go at them. Fucking not only he is an average defender, but his head is completely empty. His brain farts are so comical at times.

His overhyped reputation is due to Spain's success. I have heard a description of him on RTE like "Ramos is a Paul McShane on steroids". Seems pretty accurate.

So Spain has managed to win the Euro Champs and WC having to use an absolute stinker at right back 72 times and the only reason being that puyol and pique constantly covering him ? I think I can recall a certain Mr Puyol being caught out on numerous occasions as well, just to be saved by his fellow defenders. I think its called defending as a unit and covering each other..

Fair enough with blinkers, but some reality is ok occassionally..
It’s not even about individuality, it’s about the team. Our game was based on his controlling of the tempo. Squeeze the life out of the opposition and then strike. That is our game. Like a pack of pythons.

I think the main argument would be - is this man world class? He's labelled it so often but it's simply not true. A decent player on his day, indeed, perhaps even in the top five - but lets not go overboard. He IS overrated and it's not just this game that proves that.

Plus, that naked photoshoot he did with the baby oil and the football boots around his neck was unforgivable.

Disgusting what Ramos did last night, and I'd say Philipp Lahm is the best right back in the world.

The pushing with Puyol & Xavi was nothing.  The Barca pair knew he was riled up and they probably knew what was coming.

However, the kick on Messi makes him a c*nt.  That has no place whatsoever in the game and I don't think that shows passion for your club.  I think that just makes you a c*nt who has conceded that the opp is much better than you.

On his ability.  He is a poor defender.  Time after time, he gets caught out.  Very good going forward and he gets a few goals.  Very powerful.  He's like the Spanish Micah Richards.

If Mourinho can get him to start concentrating then he has a potential top drawer right back and centreback.

So you think he could be in top 5 but still not world class?  ???
I think he's a great player. Definitely has slips though, just like Pique. But they are still young and can develop more.

Yeah. World Class to me indicates he'd get into any side in the world and/or be THE best in the world in his position. I don't think he could and I don't think he is.

There are very few 'world class' players to me. I said he might be in the top five on his day. That doesn't make him world class.  It just makes him a decent player. Decent does not equal world class. Very good does not equal world class. Even excellent doesn't equal world class.

You going to pay for them, persuade them to leave sunny Spain for wintry Liverpool and set up the team to get the best out of their abilities rather than neutering them as well then?

He should have given Puyol a reason to hit the deck, the way he did. Puyol is the symbol of the disgusting behaviour shown by footballers towards the refs, always runs 50-60 yards to complain and moan like a spoilt little bitch.  The ref is not gonna change his decision just because you stand there screaming with your hands behind your back. Just stay away and get on with it.

I would rather defend Ramos for lashing out, than Puyol for his deck hitting antics and for overall being a disgusting footballer.

I am not talking about that episode, he did the right thing to stand up for his team mates as he should. I am talking about the constant running at refs to comlain about every decision even throw ins and at shouting at the ref to get players sent off..

Wouldn't be a crime if he did it every now and then when it was warranted. Every big game you can count on Puyol to be in the ref's face after every foul and making the most of foul's on him. Noticed it the most during the Barca-Man U final, acted like a complete bellend.

it was warranted, Carvalho should have been sent off twice. referee was blatantly trying his best not to send off a Real player.

When Johnson is slated in preference of Ramos, the question needs asking: how would Ramos look if he had to stay in his own half for most of the game and defend?

Put those footballers in that scenario, and Johnson trumps it for me. Easily.

Ramos is just about ok for me. I have a hard time thinking of Ramos, Maicon etc as defenders. Lahm trumps them all in that regard. Shame he's pint-sized.

Fantastic seeing him get sent off. I just wish him, Pique and Puyol had a proper punch up rather than just patting each other in the face, the bunch of twats!

This is what I don't get, what kind of message is Puyol stating to Ramos and the rest of Real by falling down like a big fanny from a simple push to the face? I'm not half the size of Puyol and I've gone toe to toe with people twice the size of Ramos and managed to survive.

Maybe it's the fact that the first sport I played and the one that influenced me the most as an (admittedly amateur) athlete was ice hockey, but to me if you are going to stand up for a player, that means you actually stand up, not roll on the ground clutching your face.

Now I'm not saying that a fight was necessary, but if you, the captain and designated hardman, are going to deliver the message that your genius midget is not to be fucked with then you should stay on your feet and at least look hard. Who's going to be worried about kicking Messi if the worst you are going to get is Puyol acting like a soft twat in retaliation.
