He probably won't see any positives for a short while, but with the type of character Klopp is he'll know once recovered he should get another chance to impress, whether he'll be fit enough to carry on that's another matter. Football is a funny game and who's to say he won't have a cameo role against Barcelona in a match at Anfield next October.

If he can see the light at the end of the tunnel and keep life in perspective he'll be fine, I think with the type of guy he is hopefully he'll do just that.

Rossiter absolutely bossed it tonight. Really believe he'll end up playing more games this season than Lucas.

An absolute joke now. I don't remember this guy being so injury prone before joining us.

Is it the water in Liverpool?

Gutted for the lad.

To put all that hard work into getting back fit over the last 12 months and for him to be put back to square one must be heartbreaking.

Fingers crossed he can come back from this and get back to playing at the top level at some point in the next 6-12 months.
I think Jookie might just be the best fisherman on this thread.

Just seen this, what rotten luck. No doubt it will take it's toll on him mentally but he's a strong lad with good people around him. Hang in there Danny lad.

Coming up to a congested fixture list in November and December he would have definitely been played. Gutted for him.

Probably his career at Liverpool over?

Unless I'm mistaken he's contracted to the club until 2020 I think, so he's not going anywhere for a long time.

I'd say its more of back to square one. Hopefully if he keeps positive and all goes well he can get another chance to start again next season.

Very sad news for all concerned. Excellent player - couldn't have asked for a better 4th choice in the wings waiting to fight for a place in the team when he got the chance.

On a side note, it's situations like this that vindicate players from other clubs jostling to get a bumper contract and move to a big club at the first sign of an opportunity. Sad that Ings isn't able to develop, but being on a big contract allows him to plan for another life away from football if things truly go pear shaped.

Definitely not!
Quote from: Jurgen Klopp
"To say we are gutted would be an understatement,"

"He is such a great boy and has worked so hard that he deserves better luck than this.

"It is typical of Danny's personality, on and off the pitch, that he picked up this injury to his knee when courageously trying to win the ball back for his team by making a tackle."

"But it is this same personality that means he will come back as good and as strong from this latest setback as he has done in the past."

"He is mentally strong, physically strong and will have the very best treatment and rehab possible to make sure when he returns he is ready to play for us at the level we know he is capable of."

Can't think of many players who have come back from back-to-back-to-back ACL/Knee injuries and have gone on to as fruitful career as he could have.

Having a good engine and chasing down through-balls and defenders like a terrier is Danny Ings' bread and butter. It seems that he has had previous problems while at Burnley, so all the nonsense about Klopp's high intensity training being to blame shouldn't even be uttered in the same sentence.

Absolutely gutted for the lad.
There are some right sh!thouses out there who will sail through their careers avoiding injury, doing the bare minimum and picking up trophies.  Then you get proper hard working professionals like Danny who just get shafted by injury.
Never seen him playing I think. But looks like a good player.

Genuinely gutted for the lad. It doesn`t matter how much you earn, how much of a fortunate position he is in etc etc. This must be absolutely devastating for such a young and wholly professional individual. I am sure he has the mental toughness required to come back from this.

Gutted, what a mare, he was starting to look a lot sharper as well. He'll definitely get another shot under Klopp, just hope it's sooner rather than later. At least, from the club's perspective, we have a few good options up front this season. Do you think this opens the door for one of the younger lads to get some minutes in the league cup?

What an utter shame for Danny, he's not having much luck with injuries at all. At least he has the temperament to fight back from this latest injury, I think he'll one day score a very important goal for us that wins us a title/trophy.

Really, really shit news. it's one thing breaking down soon after coming back, but he has been fit for 6 months now, so its a real kick in the teeth for him.

Definitely not!

I would have to doubt it, just because it is hard to get back to your level after 2 years out, we've seen it before with other players. It's gonna be tough make no mistake.

Let's hope he can come back from this, I was so keen on seeing what Klopp could do to improve his game and make him into a valuable part of the squad.

Get well soon Danny
