Liverpool vs Hull - Sat 25th Oct 14
« on: October 23, 2014, 12:23:12 pm »
Too soon?

Tough game this, they have the defensive organisation and power in attacking areas in Diame and Hernandez that can cause us problems.

Hull have only lost 1 in 4 of their away games in the league this season, which was their poor performance against Villa. Managed draws at Arsenal and Newcastle and a win at QPR. Certainly a dogged side.

The team will need to show a reaction though to the Real Madrid game.

When is the press conference for this? Tomorrow?

Brendan's press conference is from 2pm today. I think we should see a reaction here and probably a few changes as well. The likes of Lallana and Manquillo starting for this game, I think.

Expecting the usual over confident 'we'll stuff them 3-0' comments

It's gonna be a tight game, Hull are no mugs and should of won at the Emirates. You'd like to think the boys would have a point to prove after last night...

I fully expect us to concede every time we are attacked  :-\

With Sturridge out, this game might go down like QPR's, without the own goals to gift us the match  :-[

Hull will "park the bus"and frustrate the crap out of us.It worked for Villa,we dont seem to have the answer to this system.
Hopefully the Madrid game will spur us on to prove we are a good side capable of top 4.A fast start and an early goal is required.

Mignolet
Manquillo Skrtel Lovren Moreno
Can Allen Henderson
Lallana Borini Coutinho

Please.

In terms of quality of football we were (slightly) more fluid yesterday. Hopefully it's a step forward for Hull.

Wouldn't surprise me if Balotelli is dropped, as well as Manquillo coming in.

Is Sakho likely to be fit? I wonder if BR would be wanting to bring him in, as Lovren has been great the past few games.

I'd tend to disagree, if I'm Hull, I'd take a leaf out of QPR's book and attack us like crazy. If I'm Steve Bruce I'd just show clips from our previous matches during team briefings and it should be self-explanatory to their players.

Just keep getting set pieces and corners, and flood our box with players. Works a treat every time, sigh.

They have enough in their team to do either. They could sit off and defend, which they can do, and use Diame and Hernandez to counter. Or they have enough to take the game to us.

For me this could be a similarly difficult game as Southampton was at home in the league this season and we easily could have lost that game.

.coutinho against a dogged and hard working defence?....naw,raheem has to start instead of couts.other than that cant argue with the rest of that line up.its going to be a long day i fear,we have zero confidence and are going backwards.reminds me of 09 when we finished 2nd and following season couldnt maintain the levels of previous year.never thought we would miss one player so much.

I think stevie could do with a rest. He looked very tired last night and needs to be rested as much if not more than anyone else.i love the guy but his lack of mobility is telling these days.
Johnson & balotelli should be dropped after that performance.Id also like to see Lazar on the left/left central as he has played there with success for benfica.

I'm predicting a nervy score draw. Where our goal is coming from i dont know but you've got to fancy anyone and everyone to score against us at present. This obviously comes across as negative but its just the way it is at the minute. Hoping for the best regardless.

We'll do well to win this. Coming of the back of a CL game against a Steve Bruce managed team. That is no easy task. It's very likely going to be a frustrating watch.

Have to jammy a win somehow. We'll need luck on our side, or hope that they put up a poor performance.

I hope those who were advocating Sterling as a lone striker, like Carragher, noticed we didn't get one decent shot on goal in the second half last night. A lot of huff and puff.

Radical idea, but play Lambert as striker and Balotelli as a false 9. Balotelli was the ability to play wide and drop back to get the ball. Ricky is to slow to do that so leave him up front to push their defense back to allow space.

Not feeling confident, we'll concede, we always do, but how many? Basically if they defend well they'll win, we hav'nt got the cutting edge to work through a defence, and they can just bide their time, wait for a set piece goal or one of our defenders to go walk about.

I suspect Lallana, Balotelli, Markovic will be our front line.

You think Hull are shitting it about playing us? They are licking their lips.
They know if they defend well then they will win. Something beyond us at present
