This isn't just a Liverpool thing . You'll hear the same complants from pretty much fans of every club in the PL.

Yeah that's right, that's why they issue 26,000 season tickets and have issued more to people on the waiting list in the last two years.

Sometimes I wonder if people even think before hitting he keyboard.

Can see your point.

But seriously... Person A spends £5 per game (ST, member, regular etc). Person B spends £30 per game. Would the club rather have 44,000 person A's or B's?

Thats a stupid question, would you rather have a fiver or a tenner?

The point is that FSG don't put 44000 first timers in, theres probably a few thousand? And they got the tickets because they wanted them more.

But you can't use that as a sleight on the owners, because they are not selling out "true, loyal, scouse" fans for a quick buck.

I think you are looking at it wrong Joel as a businessman I would be looking at it as I have a guaranteed £700 up front at the start of the season from those 26,000. They have also pledged an additional sum which is usually at least £300 which I take by DD. these are my best customers. Many of them then spend quite a lot more in the local area on match days how can I offer them products and services that they want so that they will spend a larger proportion of that money with me.

Its where the 'daytrippers' are allowed to sit which is the problem. The KOP should be a place that is respected. It should be an honour to sit on it and you should feel that you have to 'add' something to the atmosphere by being on it.

How can someone who goes to 1 - 3 games a season contribute to the atmosphere on the KOP when they dont know the songs because they dont go enough?

The problem is there are too many member like this who sit on the KOP waiting for them to 'experience' it, when they should be the ones who are creating the experience
We’ll still finish in top four - and they won’t. You can quote me on this in May.

The Kop is full of people who know the songs but, for whatever reason, choose not to sing week in week out. Blaming the 'day trippers' is just lazy. There are loads of fans who travel from Ireland and Scandinavia who song their hearts out every week. I think part of the issue is that fans who don't want to have a few bevvies and sing for 90 minutes also don't want to give up their Kop season tickets. We don't make it affordable for young local fans to attend the game, and the experiment with making the 300s a singing section has failed.

It's not really though. As has been said a thousand times already, and will be said again many thousand times, there is as many regulars who sit on their hands huffing and puffing through games. It's entirely unfair to blame 'daytrippers' on the atmosphere being shit when some of them are told to keep quiet on the Kop at an Everton game by a local mute either side of them. This was Kenny's first home game in charge in 2011. I feel I have an obligation to create an atmosphere regardless of what stand I am in. But I do agree that you shouldnt sit on the Kop if you aren't going to bother making any noise.
It's easy to pick up a song from anywhere. Most of the songs I know I have learnt before attnding a match. On forums, YouTube, websites. Going to a match regular doesnt mean you will know more songs.

The club really should care, a good atmosphere at Anfield is worth more than a couple of points a season. When people say the Liverpool used to win games before a ball was kicked it was a combination of incredible players and fans that used to intimidate the opposition.

This season I've heard some of the most pathetic renditions of You'll Never Walk Alone, it's actually depressing.

This, although what does my head in is the fact that it's no longer played as the players are walking out of the tunnel but after they've done all the Premiership corporate handshaking crap, I don't know why they changed it but people must feel like they have to rush through YNWA so they can finish it and be sat down before kick-off.

The problem is young fans are priced out of going the game. The bulk sales they brought in last year have made it even worse.

Not sure how much influence the supporters commitee has but they definately need to push for a couple of thousand seats after the redevelopement for local kids on the cheap ala boys open type idea.

The problem with atmosphere these days is a lot of football supporters expect to be "entertained" for there money and believe they have a "right" to moan during the game because they paid for it.

Supporters in my opinion have a job to do as well as the players. They should support unconditionally during the game and if they want a moan do it in the pub after or on here or whatever. It wont happen but thats my opinion.Through thick and thin as the saying goes.

"Sing when your winning" must be one of the most cringiest, small time chants there is out there but it does apply to the majority of clubs supporters nowadays.
That right peg hits it and you see the future arc of the ball and time goes al gluey like a Dali painting, and for a second there's a 20yr old StevenGerrard and your young self cheering him on through the prism. His big smile fades in an the net is shivering and J.Hart's trying not to look grateful for the privilege of being that close to greatness

Yeh.You hear too much of people saying 'Oh how was the atmostphere' etc.

Or when I go to a game I usually meet someone who was there for their first time. And they tell me that it was quiet enough but they enjoyed it .

They are an audience for the football but not an audience for the atmosphere. They are part of it and should embrace it and get singing themselves.

At the Carling cup final I saw a family leave with 10 minutes to go in normal time after talking for the whole match.

How do people like that get tickets? Not only did they not sing but they didnt even care enough to sit it out and see if we won.Maybe they had a bus to catch but still why bother?

I only go 2 times a year 3 times if I am lucky and I cant wait every time.

I'd go to every game if I could, but I can't afford it at the moment being a student and that, none of my mates can either.

I've been to every EL game this season in the KOP because those are reasonably priced and there are tickets available. I walk to the game; takes me 40 minutes but I love the feeling of approaching the stadium and getting that buzz.

At the Anzhi game I was there way before kick off soaking up the atmosphere, watching the players warm up, etc. This got a little ruined by a bloke who came in and stood right in front of me he said "hello" to the other bloke who was standing to my left but remained standing right there in front of me. When I said "excuse me mate" he said "You're in my seat, I'm a season ticket holder".

Now I was a bit confused cause you can imagine I triple checked my seat, it being one of my rare outings and such. What happened is he didn't want to go at first so gave up his ticket (which I bought online) then his mate that sits next to him, to his right gave him his ticket, when he came in he just went to his seat where I was and stood in front of me. I just said "sorry mate" and moved to the seat to his right, no problem but if he was polite I wouldn't even had cared. Nonetheless I wasn't gonna let that ruin anything. I was singing YNWA with teary eyes noticed the two blokes to my left weren't singing at all, nor joining in with the chants during the match or anything.

Anyway the point of that story is that the season ticket holders can be an intimidating bunch; especially when they don't sing so make you feel a bit awkward. I'd have loved for one of em to say something like "haven't seen you here before mate" or be a bit more friendly in general.

I've got a feeling that Origi is the real deal, from a couple of games I watched but mainly his interviews there seems to be something about him.

It's worrying the amount of our supporters who will sit silently, only making noise when we either score, or one of our lads tries something and it doesn't come off.

The groaning is sometimes louder than anything else, and I don't want to just blame it on "daytrippers", but I notice it more and more every time I go. Doesn't help players who are "confidence players" and younger lads, of which we probably have more than most teams.

Wasn't there tonight mind, so can't speak for this evening really.

It won't change until the club stops trying to rake in every Johnny-come-lately. What are people expecting when there's thousands who are only arsed about getting a good shot of Gerrard taking a corner to stick on Facebook or Twitter at half time? Until the club realigns itself with its core support it'll get what it deserves: loads of part-timers who don't have a clue what being a Liverpool supporter is about and stone-cold atmospheres every other week.
