We had a number of rusty players on there and it showed.

We weren't good but Bolton defended well and were lucky a number of times. Bogdan made some great saves. Mills should have also been sent off for a second yellow if not straight red for being last man.
The imbecile formerly known as babraham. But now called babraham again! Though still an imbecile. Sadly.

Every time Kevin Friend refs our games, you can be sure that nothing will be given for us. Mills should've been sent off for Bolton and Henderson should have had a penalty after Spearing shoved him in the back. He's an absolute twat of a ref.
ever single fucking time. I hate Kevin friend. he's worse than mason and webb

can never understand how did mills managed to stay on the pitch....

markovic's been getting better and better since the basel match

sterling could make better decisions and choices in releasing the ball, but it's also tough for him as he's not a striker after all

When you play against such a deeply negative team there will only ever be one result when you make so many changes. Lennon will be laughing his ass off after that one. What is clear after this result is that there are more than a few Liverpool players who just aren't at the standard we expect, and the sooner Daniel Sturridge is back the better. Hats off to Markovic for making a difference though, another good performance from the young lad. But if I see Glen Johnson play ANOTHER back pass I swear I'll lose it.

Right, so Lallana is now not a starter.

Kneejerkism.

Not in that form he shouldn't be, especially not against Chelsea.

Still the same problems with finishing opportunities. I thought though we were generally positive so no bad thing.

Thought Henderson was good towards the end, seemed to have the desire to try and win it. Without a good striker though its always going to difficult when a team defends well.

Our players are shockingly bad at shooting, i mean seriously they scruff their shots so many times. I actually think our shooting deserves its own thread, thats how bad it is.

They defended brilliantly
this in a nutshell, I take positives only myself, we played well. With a quality striker that would have been a win. Lucus is back though no? absolute control every time. In the first half Sterling could have passed instead of having a crack himself on a few occasions.

Those who still do not realise that we need a proven goalscorer should start to hope for one now.

We cannot expect our star player to come back and hit the ground running after so long.

FSG stop being so stingy will you. Get us a proven goalscorer.

Shame about the extra game, expect Sturridge will be back then.

On to Chelsea.

Played well. They defended brilliantly and the keeper made two outstanding saves. The referee also bottled a clear red card.

No doubt half of RAWK will criticise us but it's the Cup, shocks happen - but we never looked in any danger of losing the game.

We will destroy them at their place when they will come at us a bit more.

Oh get lost! They were a dogshite of a side

Their performance aside, it was a bit like watching us earlier in the season.  No punch in the attack, too many touches and players fannying around with the ball.  It seemed like the players we brought in today didn't fit the system.

We had some really good chances that we didn't take

Kevin Friend was atrocious

About sums it up on both points. We huffed and puffed. Oh and the ref was shite but then Kevin Friend always is.
Has Steven Gerrard scored a goal even more important than the one he got against Olympiakos - Is this the start of something BIG?

Credit to Bolton's defense and the keeper - they all played well apart from the rugby tackling. Yet another match that we likely would have one with a striker who can shoot.

Not blaming Friend for the draw, but what an awful performance from him

Silver lining is Can and Markovic again progressing toward eventually making that 30m total outlay look like a bargain.

Not our best game...

How did they not have a player sent off?

Side note, I don't know who the comms were but they were terrible.
Constantly unfairly berating our players, especially Sakho.
Was also laughable that both of them were seemingly calling for Lambert to be brought on despite the fact we had already used all 3 subs... :butt

Not ideal, but at least we're still in the cup.

Our creative players today were crap, and by crap I mean their passing in the final third was just poor. The team lacks decent finishes really. Coutinho can't score , Henderson can't score , sterling tries to hard to walk it in etc we need a fucking striker basically

Guys I might be the optimist here, because Bolton at home and all that - but I fucking loved that game. I have reasons.

1) We are now silky, very much so, at the back. We finished that game with one recognised centre-half and a goalkeeper who apparently treats the ball like dynamite...and we were fine. I lost control several times because Mignolet was calm and collected, but the commentators pushed some real bullshit about him being nervous. Was I watching a different game? We involved him many times and he was great today.

2) Someone needs to get a better commentator who knows there are only 3 subs per game

3) The ref was shit as per.

4) Joe Allen was solid

5) Made up for the reaction both for Heskey and Spearing.

We're a good counterattacking team hence our success away from home, but when trying to break down a packed defence ? You really need a top quality striker to convert the few clear-cut opportunities that you will create - and we didn't have one.

Sturridge can't come back soon enough. Credit to Bolton who were very well organised and resilient but we had our chances and were trying to be so elaborate - just fucking hit it !

Many players looked rusty, either coming back from injury or were fringe players and so in the first half we were lacking. Second half we stepped it up but its all rather frustrating in the end.
