Some guesses at that then:

Lovren and Johnson for Sakho and Can?
Lambert for Sterling?
Allen for Henderson?
Enrique for Moreno?

"Strong front three" says the guy who's been tweeting the team recently.

Lallana in for Gerrard/Coutinho? I expect Sterling to start.

It's a fair point:

Team v Northampton in 2010:
         Jones
    05 Agger
    16 Kyrgiakos
    22 Wilson
    34 Kelly
    21 Lucas
    26 Spearing
    12 Pacheco (Ince 105+1)
    14 Jovanovic (Eccleston 91)
    19 Babel (Shelvey 100)
    24 Ngog

Substitutes

    41 Hansen,
    47 Wisdom,
    49 Robinson,
    33 Shelvey,
    39 Eccleston,
    45 Ince,
    46 Amoo

From the dark days under Roy,  but only Lucas and Agger proved worthy of a place at Liverpool Football Club

is that the B squad according to roy?

Brings back the nightmares.  So many youngsters.  Only shelvey and Kelly still playing at the top level.

I don't think it's needed, we build our fitness over the season so we finish stronger without changing the team often. Makes sense to try and make minimal changes (based on fitness) and try to keep cohesion going forward. Hence why seeing Johnson at Right Center Back isn't the end of the world.

Enrique and Manquillo as wing backs is going to have a pretty negative effect on our attacking play - if we have to play them I'd think about changing the formation so they're full backs

I reckon Rodgers will field a strong side. He wants a trophy and this game is no gimme. Bolton are a decent outfit who will give a good showing. Plus, he's taken domestic cups seriously all season, which is why we are still in them.

That's such a weird back three. A decent bit of pace in there though.

Going of his pre-match conference, it kind of sounds like he wants to win a trophy more then he want us to finish top 4. I think he feels if we manage to win some silverware, he'll find it easier to keep this young group of players together long term.

Strange how Can seems to be going central. I think we'll miss his distribution from the side of a 3, which is compounded by the more defensive wingbacks and Johnson. Glad Sakho's still in for that though.

Can is a very good distributor of the ball no matter where he plays. He has really helped bringing the ball out of defence, and him and Sakho have added a bit of calmness back there, if you compare it to earlier in the season when Lovren and Sktrel were constantly getting pressured bringing the ball out. The new shape has helped but Can and Sakho are much better at bringing the ball out. In that sense I don't mind him in the middle, if that is indeed where he is playing. I think we can get away with Johnson on the right for this game, but I think he's a liability there against better teams.

A little bit odd that Borini doesn't start here considering he's started 2 away PL games in a row. Would have thought that either him or Balotelli will start. But obviously Rodgers wants to go with his best front 3 which is currently Coutinho-Sterling-Lallana/Gerrard.

Looks like Skrtel, Markovic, Lucas, Moreno and Gerrard have all been rested for Chelsea. Would have liked to have seen Coutinho given a game off too, but maybe he can come off early if we're comfortable tomorrow.

Yeah there is an argument that way, although maybe it goes out of the window when you're one game away from Wembley!

It's odd though, how less seriously teams take the league cup these days, when squads are probably twice as big in the days when it was properly important. Or was it just important because we kept winning it? :)

I dont think GJ can play wing back anymore and hes often played on the right of a 3 and done alright.
Can in the middle is interesting like the rest of the team, those wing backs do make us a little more defensive but that can be changed easily enough if we need to.

If we indeed go with Manquillo and Enrique as the WBs, we may see a significant drop in our attacking potency, especially on the right compared to Markovic and Moreno.
