Christmas 1963

Blackpool 1 Chelsea 5

Liverpool 6 Stoke C 1

Blimey, that's a great omen.

We played Stoke at home after Christmas on our way to Shanks first league title five months later.

My uncle and cousin from Somerset were staying with us, so my dad, brother and I took them into the Annie Road end behind the goal for their first Libpool game. Half time came it was 1-1 and we told them we would see goals in our end second half.

We ran riot and Roger scored 4 of 5 right in front of us. My abiding memory is after one of the post goal celebrations and that forward surge my uncles fag was squashed like a concertina still in his mouth! He wasn't used to big crowds at games and said he felt knackered at the end. You had to be fit to stand there.  ;D

Not expecting six goals this time , just three points please.

Heard Klopp say Phil and Joel not training with the team. Phil still possible for City match. Didn't sound too hopeful on Matip for this match.
He also rallied the crowd again, so I hope all that go give him his wish with a good atmosphere.

Klopp also got a bit poetic today. Comparing this match to the middle of three children, saying the first and third get all the attention but that this is the most important game as it is the next one.

I can't see Coutinho back until after the City game. Sounds like Matip will be at least on the bench for Stoke but I reckon he will start over Klavan.

That will probably be the only change from the Everton game.

This will do....except a reverse on the Chelsea score :)

Liverpool and Everton have the exact same fixtures on the 26th/27th this year as 1963.

Same results there please!

A 6-1 defeat for Man United works too.  Anichebe double hat-trick incoming.  The Revenge of Moyes.

Hoping for a comfortable 3 nil, or even a 3-1, as long as we're 3 up by the time they score in the 93 min  ;D

I'd like us to start with this team

Mignolet

Clyne Lovren Matip Klavan Milner

Lucas Henderson

Lallana Gini Can Mane

Sturridge Firmino

But that would require some serious oversight by the ref.

you lost faith in football a year after our best title challenge in 20 years? See a lot of posts on here like this "i give up with football" etc, we're liverpool and we have it bloody good compared to the vast majority of the football league and indeed the whole of the footballing world.

You see it from united fans now. All of a sudden they are just "numb" to results and theyve lost faith. Imagine if they grew up supporting stockport or bury, how would they cope. 20 years of almost constant success but now they dont like footie any more. Funny that

We need to win the next three games to have some Hope of Title challenge.

Chelsea Might drop points against Spurs . We shouldn't do any favours to Chelsea by dropping silly points. I feel we have got back our rhythm. 2-1 Victory for us,

Come on Boys.

I think we need to not think of this segment as a 3. We just need to somehow get through Stoke with a win without worrying about the other 2. The games are going to come thick and fast now and there is no long break at all for a long time now. We just have to concentrate on the game we're going to play next as that is the most important one.

Below are the days off we have now in between match days until February 4th. It isn't pleasant at all, and the squad is going be severely tested, especially with Mané not available for most of them..

Remember it well, and despite big wins for Fulham, Blackburn, Burnley and Sheffield Wednesday, they all lost the return games two days later ... Liverpool's game was postponed but eventually they too lost at Stoke 1-3.
