Gini on please.

Need someone who can defend and contribute to attack effectively. If Can stays we will lose this game

Far too pedestrian in both movement and passing. No wing play. Really need to get some crosses in. Beats 5 yard passes at the back. Would consider Moreno to come on  for Milner (penalty taker?) or rather Can and move Milner to the middle at left half.

Either Can or Hendo have to come out. When they are both on, they just pass it to each other  and take a million touches between them.

Thank goodness for Karius!

Origi on to add some pace. Then maybe Gini to liven up the passing.

No reason we can't win this. Up to the redmen though!

The biggest positive is that we somehow aren't out of this tie yet, credit to Karius who has been excellent over the two legs.

Our midfield is a disaster at the moment.

No pace in the team again and teams just park the bus against us and we can't break them down. Carbon copy of last season.

We really need to step it up in the second half

Same, same.

They are a threat on the counter-attack. We need to finish our attacks. Still want more speed. Doesn't have to be fast runs, we can play the ball quicker too. Anything to break their organization.

I know we're losing and chasing the game but it's ridiculous how open we are at the back. It would be forgivable if it wasn't the same in every single match. Something massively wrong with our system.

Too slow going forward. Too easy to defend against.

Sturridge is trying his hardest but his body just doesn't let him do what his mind wants.

TAA very good going forward. Karius great. Everyone else, shite.

Actually think Can is playing better than recent form, but that one extra touch is just slowing us down too much. In fairness he's not the only one doing it. If we are going to get caught on a counter I'd like it to happen while we're trying the fast/one touch football of a few months ago.

Nothing to lose now. Just score!

Not sure why people are blaming Can. Not doing too much wrong

These will be difficult to crack..they have a good gameplan

(can we buy Redmond and Bertrand  at half time  :-X)

He's done nothing right. He kills any momentum we have when he gets on the ball, always looking for the safe option.

I don't know where to start with this...but I'll give it a go:

Too many people out of form, balls bouncing off them, no confidence in what they are doing.

That midfield won't do, I'm beginning to think Emre Can just won't do, full stop.

Our transition in defence is all over the place, every ball, every punt, every slice by them falls to feet.

Redmond, Bertrand, Tadic etc falling over in every challenge seems to conditioned us into not challenging.

Why don't we get fouls any more?

Teams have worked out how to stop us: defend deep, press high. Now they know how to exploit our frailties. I hope its just down to lack of confidence and form rather than systematic.

I think he's very keen to win it back high and sometimes he is left a bit exposed. But risk vs reward I think

You can see the players confidence is in tatters, its obvious. I dont think its a case of poor attitude, its a case of the confidence is draining from the entire team.  :-\

over the 2 games thus far really saints shoud be out of sight

somehow were still in it thanks to Karius tonight.

Are teams getting us sussed ? this is happening in many recent fixtures. all ball no teeth, wide open to the counter.
Its really hard to do you can see 3 or 4 attackers looking down 9 players and a keeper what the hell can you do. I think we need to get in their faces in the box get it wider whip some in get into their faces get the second balls

He slows us down so much. And anyone with an iota of acceleration gets away from him because he takes 3 seconds to get to walking speed. His acceleration is probably slower than Andy Carroll

kind of disappointed not to see us switch formation to 4231. firmino is wasted on the right with southampton sitting so deep Lallana in midfield barely makes a difference.

Think Hendo's heel is really bothering him.  He's not doing much defensive work in transition which is probably why Can is in the side rather then Wijnaldum.  Probably a good idea to let Wijnaldum in for Hendo and have a real go at them this half.
