I thought it was telling that Danny came off before Divvy. One of them will surely start on Saturday considering its Swansea and there's no Mane, my bet would be on Sturridge now and probably rightly so. Origi has been woeful recently.

Probably the most pissed I have been in my life was in Plymouth - shit beer, Union Street, Diamond Lil's *shudder*.

It was followed by probably the second worst hangover I've ever had.  It was redeemed by having one of the best breakfast bars - Cap'n Jaspers down on the harbour.  Ha! Cap'n Jaspers is still there, not sure about Diamond Lil though . . .

Well, we're through - and that's about the only positive.

A rare Lucas goal in over 3 hours of football against League 2 opposition tells its own story. It's a fair reflection on our form so far in 2017.

Sturridge can pull a face all he likes when he gets subbed off but he and Origi stank the place out today. People will start accusing me of having an agenda, I don't care, he needs to pull his fucking socks up.

Thank you Rush 82 for the commentary.
Love it when the young lads play. We've still got Grujic to come in as well.
One day we may have a decent referee, maybe.
Well done everyone and its good to see Gomez doing well.
Thanks mate.

Much appreciated

Some miserable twats in here. All about the result. Rested the first team where necessary, some time on the pitch for Coutinho and Gomez and a goal for Lucas. And a whole bunch of young lads get real competitive football against a lower league team, but one at the top of their game.

We should have had more and of course they had a few chances - it was a footie game after all.

All about Swansea next, then Southampton in the second leg. Win that and we've made great use of the squad and the youngsters before meeting Chelsea at the end of the month.

It's been a tricky few weeks but we're still in all the competitions we were in going into the Christmas period.

But Liverpool are in 'poor form' according to that tosser presenter and talksport idiots

Lost 1 since the bournemoith debacle and that was a 1st leg

Well said Alan.

Someone calling Stewart a nothing player on the last page.

Seems like some people just aren't happy unless there's something or someone to have a whinge about.

Just enjoy the fact we're in the draw and everyone came off the park sound.

Cheers mate - some right bellends in here. I enjoyed that. But I've taken the controversial view that watching football is meant to be enjoyable, not an excuse to lash out at teenagers and twenty-year-olds.

And? We've got an important game against Swansea at the weekend (Chelsea play Hull IIRC) then a League Cup semi final second leg and a game against Chelsea.

But yeah - keep Sturridge on against fucking Plymouth! Jesus wept. Of course Daniel was disappointed but humiliated? Get a fucking grip.

Glad we're through without any injuries.

Was never going to be a stroll in the park this, Plymouth in good form, second in League Two, playing under the lights to a full crowd at home to Liverpool.

Job done, more minutes for the youngsters and for Coutinho, and on we go in the cup.

Lovely tribute to Daniel May as well from all sides of the ground. I hope his family took some comfort from that during this difficult period for them. YNWA.

TAA was very very good and has the quality to be a first team player.

Loved when Lucas was interviewed after the game and they said it had been 7 years since his last and smiled and said has it been that long I scored one in training the other day.

Gomez played really well especially after he picked up that early yellow card.
Woodburn and Ejaria knuckled down and did a job, Wilson and Ojo both looked to create when they came on.
Origi needs some tips from MIlner on penalties.

Plymouth played well with Bradley winning most of the headers and Garita was a handful, and they were unlucky with Jervis hitting the outside of the post.

We dominated posssison but created few clear cut chances, but job done bring on Wolves at home next round.

Experience for the youngsters. Fitness increase for Coutinho. Sturridge and Origi were'nt great, but they'll not play in front of that midfield too often. We got through the tie, essentially with kids. Not much of a strain on the main starting XI after a pretty hectic schedule. Plenty of positives.

I do think we need to make use of our subs a bit more in league games.

Studge and Origi look completely off the pace, and I don't see how either can be expected to get back on it if they're only played in those sorts of game.

Some miserable twats in here. All about the result. Rested the first team where necessary, some time on the pitch for Coutinho and Gomez and a goal for Lucas. And a whole bunch of young lads get real competitive football against a lower league team, but one at the top of their game.

It's funny because I think the media is full of miserable twats too. The BT lot were going on like Plymouth had gone 180 minutes against us and restricted us to a bare handful of chances, as if they were up against our first team. Yeah they're Jurgen's Reds, but when you think that Ben Woodburn isn't even old enough to have a pint then I think it has to be put into perspective. I mean, that nobhead Jake Humphreys is going on about our form being a concern, blah blah blah.

It was the fucking kids playing you tit end!!

The agenda against Sturridge is laughable as well. Sure he got barely any service, but he was constantly moving and creating space for others. It was also a run out for 65 minutes that will help his game time and fitness, plus he will almost certainly be unleashed against Swansea for some target practice at the weekend. Talk about him being embarrassed by being taken off or being at a crossroads in his career is a complete joke. Jurgen also has a responsibility to develop the young lads too, and rightly said in his post-match interview that we controlled the game in the last 25 minutes. It was the right time to give young lads time on the pitch. If anything, Origi has been so duff recently that Sturridge is likely to start a few games now. So even giving a micro-second of consideration to any notion of Sturridge being unwanted is yet more media bollocks being spouted. Same with saying Karius was unconvincing. Errr, he kept two clean sheets didn't he nobheads? Honestly, there are many people in here who could do a considerably better job at punditry than the dross we have to put up with on the telly.

But anyway, all in all a shite match against a truly negative team, surrounded by meff 'fans' who won't be making the away trip to Stevenage at the weekend or probably be seen again at Home Park this season. Booing YNWA when we were trying to give a bit of respect to the poor lad who passed away and a gesture of support to his family. Resorting to predictable shithouse chants - the 'who are ya' brigade, 'slipped on his fucking arse' and all that shit. Smalltime, bitter behaviour and smalltime tactics from the team, pulling shirts, kicking the ball away at every stoppage so that they can regroup behind the ball. I'm delighted to have pissed on their dreams, ruined their evening, done a professional job with an extremely talented bunch of young lads. Time for us to act like flat-track bullies, put these lower league teams in their place, puff out our chests and make them know who the fuck we are. Or rather, who our kids are.

A final positive note; Nathaniel Clyne has some serious competition. Enjoy the breakthrough of TAA into the first team folks, we're witnessing it as we speak. MOTM by an absolute mile tonight, we have a total gem on our hands there. 18 years old going on 30, I am truly excited thinking about how good he could potentially be as he gets more experienced if his current form is anything to go by. Fuck the negative press because we didn't put 5 past those useless bumpkins tonight, embrace and enjoy watching our incredibly talented kids grow into men.

Up the young reds, YNWA!
