I hope United don't think Sunday will be as easy as tonight, because it won't be.

I hope they do so we can catch them off guard! Can't be any worse than tonight..

We won't win end of too many players struggling last few games.

You should go tell Klopp to forfeit the game then, save them the trouble of travelling.

Well Matip wouldn't make a Sunday league mistake at the expense of a goal for one.

See: West Ham at Anfield.

Actually don't see what difference Matip and Henderson make
We are easily stifled if you want to play for a draw, not rocket science, we actually have very few ideas how to break an organised team down, that's twice against Southampton and against the Mancs who have set up to be disciplined and not concede and they've done it.

If you wanna go toe to toe then fair enough but if your half decent and can drill a team we are absolutely woeful

Not really, most teams play for a draw and we are the top scorers in the league. There are a few issues but not quite as many as you make out, though this will happen now, just like all the idiots saying how shit we were after Burnley then we went and completely dominated Spurs and outclassed Chelsea.

What we do in the final third is a big conundrum. Firmino's form has dropped off a cliff, Phil's been out for two months, Origi is in a rut, Sturridge can't be relied on, Mane is away. From being a free scoring attacking unit, we suddenly look quite blunt.
94 Corner to us. Last kick. Ali in the box and he’s scored

Most teams aren't very good. If your half decent and wanna keep it tight teams have proven how easy it is and how much we lack in ideas how to break a team down. Rodgers levels of build up play

Tonight was not the most energetic performance given the first team had a fortnight's rest. It's pivotal/crucial/whatever that they turn up for this game. We never seem to get a result against United,in the league
But when we do, we destroy them!

Origi Sturridge and Coutinho up front, Winalj Lallana and Can midfield (although I'd probably prefer Stewart over Can).

Coutinho back is massive.

If Firmino starts this it won't be based on form.

Expect a response after that, wish we could have had Coutinho back for a game more before this as he looked a bit rusty tonight as is to be expected. Bit of a dilemma around the shape with Mane not being here, but sure Klopp will come up with something...

Oddly enough I'm still confident about this one. We're playing them at absolutely the worst time of the season and we've now gone 3 without a win but we just seem to play better against the top teams than we do against the lesser sides. It would be just like us to draw with Plymouth and lose to Southampton but then beat United at Old Trafford. If we do end up not winning the title or even drifting out of the race, it won't be because of matches like this one.

We cannot play a midfield with Can in it on Sunday. I'm not gunna make big proclamations about him as a player but the form he's in, he cannot touch our first team at the moment. Must be Henderson, Wijanldum and Lallana if we have a chance.

Forget the Europa game, we rarely turn up at their place for League games.

Sorry to be a pessimist, but I fear one of those Hyypia/Masch sending off games. We aren't getting any decisions, Yernited getting away with murder, they in good form, us utterly dreadful.

I hope I'm wrong, but without Matip and Hendo and Klopp's reluctance to drop players in awful form, we're getting battered.

Henderson hits the front quicker, Can and Lucas don't fit sadly. Mane provides that runner off the ball, we do not have enough of those and that will cost us top 4 sadly unless we address it in this window.

Yep. Hopefully back to Hendo, one of Wij/Can (I'd go Wij) and Lallana. Not a fan of the other way we've gone lately even in victory v City I thought we could have done so much more if we played our usual way.

Can although young slows the play down too much. Need our captain and leader back for Sunday. Studge can sit this one out too imo , Firmino much better as a 9 than him at the moment.

Gini - Hendo - Lallana

Origi - Firmino - Coutinho

Liverpool seem to be tiring as the season goes on, the pressing and work rate seems to have dropped. Think Utd will win.

So do half of this forum, you would think we were the ones still languishing in sixth even after a run of good form. A different Liverpool will be seen on Sunday, and so will a fresher Coutinho.

Some selection headaches for this one.

Can/Firmino/Sturridge - all poor tonight and woefully out of form.

If we lose this one it'll make Hull away in 2013 look tame!  :D Remember that one? We were in crisis, the world was going to end, Sterling was one of the worst players we had, no chance of the CL etc etc then we nearly won the league.

But if its officiated fairly we wont lose.

I think the run from Utd is a bit deceiving, they have beaten mostly garbage teams. Besides Tottenham, this should in theory be a test for them.

So United can't win unless the referee helps them out, so if they do win then the referee is obviously corrupt? ::)

We can't afford to start this game with an ultimate luxury player that is Sturridge. It would be like playing with 10 men. Nobody will be giving us gifts , we'll have to earn our right to play, work extremely hard off the ball, put them under pressure if we want to see any of the ball. Origi may be an inferior talent but it's so obvious we'll need somebody upfront to throw himself about a bit and force their CBs to rush their passes.

Pointless bringing tonight in to it, we lost at Burnley then what happened in our tougher away games at Tottenham and Chelsea? It's a completely different game.

I didn't know Preston was a suburb of Manchester, and I don't "chase" you around the forum, I've responded to you a few times in threads where you're acting like the football version of Alex Jones.
