You have chosen Dalglish and Suarez instead of Fowler.
Why?

A really difficult decision to leave out many people and to be honest, and I wanted a cross section of all the players I've seen play. Suarez is quite possibly the first player with his type of talent to play for Liverpool (Keegan was the closest IMO), and offers so many options. Fowler, & Rush could easily both be playing in the starting 11 but I had to make a choice

                               Reina

Johnson       Hyypia          Agger             Aurelio

                     Alonso         Lucas

                              Gerrard

        Suarez                                     Barnes

                              Torres

Would be so boss to watch this team, so many players that are not only good with the ball but very smart with it as well.  Aurelio in a fully fit reconstructed body would be a top top LB.  Hyypia was always one of my favorites, and although I haven't watched Liverpool much since the late 90's it doesn't take much to realize what a player Barnes was.  Suarez in a team like this would really flourish as well.

                                                                REINA

JOHNSON                          HYYPIA                                   AGGER                       NICOL

                                        ALONSO                                 SISSOKO

GERRARD                                                BEARDSLEY                                       BARNES

                                                                 TORRES

Explanation:

My era is from around the mid/late eighties to present.

I’ve tried to pick on peak form alone and nothing else. So for example it would be Xabi in his last season for us, Momo pre eye incident, Digger circa 87/88 etc.

I’ve not really considered length of service or trophies won etc. and I’ve tried my best to ignore how fond of them as people I was/am.

GK - Pepe gets the nod (just) over Bruce Grobbs despite recent form.

LB – I shoe-horned Stevie Nicol into left back as John Riises’ pathological inability to stop crosses coming in used to wind me up so much I eventually developed a secret and irrational dislike for him. No-one else (bar maybe Stig) is even worth mentioning @ LB within this timeframe.

RB – Many will say Rob Jones should be in there but I just rate Glen Johnson so much and I think he really has it all on a good day (see Brendan’s recent comments on him). Honorary mention to Vegard Heggem who was another (potentially) phenomenally good attacking full-back forced from the game too early.

CM – Selected Momo over Masch because although it could easily be argued  that Masch is the better overall player, I think some of Momo’s pre eye op displays were as dominant as I have ever seen from a Liverpool midfielder. He was like some sort of human heat-seeking misile. I used to love watching him shepherd opposition midfielders into a waiting Xabi Alonso’s path who would simply pinch the ball off their toes and commence the counter. No fuss. Henry Ford would have been proud of such ruthless efficiency and co-operation.

RW – Gerrard had his most productive season ever in a Liverpool shirt coming in from the right, hence his selection there as opposed to in the middle or off the striker.

ST – Judas in over our Luis? Torres was simply amazing in his first season or two for us and I just couldn’t leave him out. I thought of forcing Suarez in to the hole/No.10 role but let’s face it, that’s not his game is it? Honorary mentions: Rush and Aldo.

Think everything else speaks for itself.

*EDIT - No matter how hard one tries, these bloody formations never really come out right visually do they? Bah!
*EDIT 2 - Looking at that team again is giving me a bit of a chubby

From '79 on:

Ray Clemence
Phil Neal
Rob Jones
Alan Hansen
Mark Lawrenson
Graeme Souness
Steven Gerrard
Xabi Alonso
John Barnes
Kenny Dalglish
Ian Rush

I've left out many fine players - Reina, Johnson and Suarez all made a claim from today's team, without being quite good enough. We've lacked a bit at left back in comparison with some other positions, so I put Jones there, remembering he had a season or so as left wing back with McAteer on the other flank. Jones couldn't displace Neal at right back. I remember a game when ManUtd beat us, using the tactic of not letting Phil Neal have the ball; that's how important he could be to us.
Gerrard is going to have to play right midfield in this one - but with licence to roam. I could play him centrally with Souness, but I think having Alonso there (close call over McDermott) and Gerrard wide is stronger than any of our other right sided players, even the best, like Houghton or Macmanaman.
Other unbelievably good players I've seen in red, who would walk into most clubs' best-of XI's: Hyypia, McMahon & Molby, Fowler, Owen and Torres.
It's a fun exercise, isn't it? As you do it, you realise that whatever team you come up with would absolutely slaughter anyone. In fact, we could afford to have a subs bench consisting of Daniele Padelli, Istvan Kozma, Paul Konchesky, Paul Stewart, Bruno Cheyrou, Mad Erik Meijer and me, and I'd still back us against Barcelona 2012.

today i fancy an almost modern era playing  4-2-3-1

i'm sticking digger in there on the left of the 3 because he's boss

no start for kenny today but he will be on the bench along with rush; beardsley; souness; hansen; mascherano; nichol and grobbelar.

width to come from our fullbacks with glen able to bomb on and aurellio able to slip into midfield or overlap digger on the left.  fabio was plagued with injuries but at his best as a footballer i've not seen better play left back for liverpool.  glen is a rolls royce who offers pace; penetration and goals.

agger and hypia offer intelligence; experience and the ability to bring the ball out with dagger also capable of moving into the centre of the pitch.  both have also got goal in them from set pieces and in daggers case from open play.

lucas can break up play as well as pick a pass; give and go.  he starts ahead of masch due to his better all round play and to his ability to work round xabi who will quarterback the team.  he starts ahead of souness and masch on merit for me and because i think he lends himself more to free flowing attacking football.

xabi.  what can i say?  i miss him terribly it would be great to have him back at the club at some point further down the line.  not sure he wants to be a manager but he loves us as much as we love him and he really just gets our club.  all this and one of the most culture passers of the ball that i've ever seen.  defence into attack as the swish of his foot he will help get the best out of our attacking quartet.

gerrard is on the right of the three where he can win the ball high up the park turning defence into final third attack as well as cross and score goals as he steps inside.  midfield should offer a platform for unrelenting waves of attacks but the big man can tuck into the centre of the park if we need some more muscle there but really i'd like him to focus on scoring and making goals.

luis is playing less of the front man and more as a floating attacker able to switch positions with gerrard as they please coming deep when necessary but also been quick in the penalty area on our attacks.  he is my favourite player since fowler who unfortunately doesn't make the bench today.

digger is a god and will provide pace, penetration, assists and goals a plenty from the left.  for those who never got to see him in his pomp he really was THAT good.  a tragedy that he never got to show his worth in europe in this parallel world he will finally get to show them how we roll.

torres gets the nod over rushie for me due to his understanding with gerrard and alonso and also because i'd love to see how good we could have been with him and luis up front.  rushie is the governor but despite it all fernando in his pomp is the best number 9 i've seen play for liverpool.

the bench is awesome with any of the players selected able to start but i thought flexibility also important: nichol can play either full back slot; masch can play defensive midfield but also right back and centre half - not bad for a midget; souness just has to be in the match day squad for his sheer presence as leader beside his ability; beardsley offers ability to play in the three with digger; gerrard and suarez all versatile enough to move around and of course rushie has goals galore if we're chasing the game.

not likely with this line up to be fair ;D

Jose Reina in goal.
Martin Skrtel, Jamie Carragher and Sami Hyypia as 3 centre backs.
Steven Gerrard and Xabi Alonso as central midfielders, Danny Murphy and Patrick Berger as wingers.
Luis Suarez, Robbie Fowler and Dirk Kuyt as forwards.

As a bonus, 5 subs would be:
David James, Neil Ruddock, John Barnes, Fernando Torres and Michael Owen.
My favourite all time LFC player? Tough choice.

First name on the team sheet: Graeme Souness in central midfield. With the captains armband

Second name: Steven Gerrard. Play him wherever the fuck you want

Third would be Alan Hansen. Immediately takes away the need to shoe-horn Hyypia and Xabi Alonso into the side

Up front: Rushie and Kenny. No explanation needed

The rest you can interchange. Put whatever icing on the cake you want

Those 5 together would piss a league title, regardless of who lined up around them
