We look short of energy, unsuprisingly. Surprised at the line up. Frustratingly moronic penalty to give away against a team that can barely buy a goal. Sturridge looks a threat.
He is the cat who walks by himself, and all roads are alike to him.

not surprised about the performance, giving they only played 44 hours previous...

ah well, come second half, we'll be back to business.

Can has been awful, if Henderson was playing I'm pretty sure we'd be winning. Counterpress is just a lot worse without him and Can is worse in possession. We'll still win though, they're not good at defending their own box.

Gini's worst half of football I can remember after his recent marvellous form.

Can hesitant and not showing for Klavan, making his job more difficult.

Mignolet superb and nearly got that pen.

Sturridge is boss.

Can has been awful and our defending hasn't been good, we're gonna need to pull our fingers out if we're to win this. Everything is going through Sturridge, hope Klopp wakes them up at half time.

Still 45 mins to go. No point moaning, how many times have we come out a different team in the second half?

Is this your first HT thread?

Honestly, anyone of the usual Henderson bashers want to watch that first half performance from Emre Can and then carry on telling us how he's just ok and bit that important? Absolutely shocking display, need to be thinking about Stewart in there because he's absolutely destroying us.
If he's being asked to head the ball too frequently - which isn't exactly his specialty - it could affect his ear and cause an infection. Especially if the ball hits him on the ear directly.

Can looks useless. Does he know he is playing as the DM? He is playing everywhere but there.

It got so bad that Lallana had to drop down between the CBs.

It looks at times he's playing a 3rd cb, both in attack and defence.

Think we'll still come out on top of this one but we're missing Henderson badly. Can has been abject and really shouldn't have conceded that throw in which led to a penalty. He's too sloppy and ponderous on the ball and it's really affecting our ability to get a grip on the game. Sturridge is looking extremely sharp. He could be a crucial asset in the run in.

Really think we should've freshened things up with the lineup. Midfield looks slow. Moreno on for milner.

Looking shattered. Sunderland have a lot of energy, unsurprising since they've spent the whole season sitting deep.

Everything in attack is coming from Sturridge or Clyne. Hoping we have the individual quality to get over the line.

Can looks fucked.

Yeah Can is asleep. Slowing everything down and narrowing angles with every touch today. You'd expect one of Sturridges long range left foot efforts to go in at some point

Can and Milner have been awful. Shocking defending by Klavan for the penalty too. It's surely only a matter of time before Sturridge scores though if they keep giving him these chances from the edge of the box.

Great game for the neutrals but nervy as fuck for us.

Sunderland are simply matching our tempo at the minute, they're constantly looking for the ball in behind and it's caused us a number of problems. As much as I can't stand him, Defoe is one of the more dangerous strikers when 1v1 with a keeper so to almost gift him two chances against Mignolet was criminal.

Speaking of Mignolet, the lad's not put a foot wrong today, went the right way for the pen aswell and was unlucky not to get there.

Klavan had a complete brain fart for the pen especially with Lallana covering aswell but has been solid mostly throughout, as has Lovren.

Few tired legs out there already and we gave Sunderland the chances to get back into it and you could see them growing into the game more, luckily it looks as though we'll have far more chances that they have though, just need to completely up our tempo and keep getting those runners in and around the box, there's definately more goals in this somewhere.

Come on Redmen!

To be fair to Can, wasn't the City game his first 90 since the injury? It's a bit rough for him to play again. Sturridge has been great, though, really lively.

Also, Januzaj is a real scumbag.

Emre Can isn't good enough at the moment to play for Liverpool. Needs to be loaned out. So many unforced errors every time I see him play.

Wasn't a penalty, but that's no excuse. We should be slaughtering them regardless.

They could've scored 3. Easily.

If we fail to win this, even in an undeserved fashion, the title is essentially Chelsea's already

Need to regroup at ht and start over.

Promising start but a mad few mins where we could be going into ht losing.

Like to see us put them under more pressure and get an early goal to get us going again.
Has Steven Gerrard scored a goal even more important than the one he got against Olympiakos - Is this the start of something BIG?

Can has a lot going for him, great physique, good passing range, a great shot. Too bad he just isn't very smart.

But we're doing ok. It was a cheap penalty to give away, but other than that, we do look threatening. Defoe looks in top form, but if we can restrict his chances, we will be fine in the second half. I'm sure Can will improve also, perhaps he's just a bit too eager to impress. He's done better than this for sure. But his decision making really has to improve.

Sturridge looks up for it. I reckon he'll get at least one more, if not two.

We could easilly be 2 or three up. Mannone has made a couple of good saves and is by far the busier keeper. I think their penalty was soft. Their player throws himself into Klavan

Could equally have conceded a couple more but for Mignolet stopping Defoe 1v1 and managing to push that shot away to deny Defoe a tap in.

Reminds me of the Everton game. They've given it their all but aren't a goal up at half time

We'll dominate more in the 2nd half and hopefully we can finish one of our chances.

Jesus emre stinking the place in midfield, poor control that led to the throw in that they got the pen from and absolute shocking passing led to the Defoe chance. He needs to step up.

Hopefully these fuckers tire out in the second half. We've not been at our best which is expected after only playing 2 days ago

Couple of glaring issues. Firmino for all his endeavour is struggling right now, Can is having one of those games where he thinks he can play at a snails pace and get away with it. He's also dropping far too deep.

So many brain farts in defence so why do we insist in passing it at the back and wasting time there? Can has not been good at all. We look good going forward but we need to better at the back. Mignolet has kept us in the game. I am confident we can do better in the second half after a Klopp talk.
