Looking up and seeing them two Liver Birds. Best feeling in the world, knowing they are ours!!

The Superlambananas- make me smile whenever I see one. Would love them to be a permanent fixture round the city

Finding any little patch to have a drink outside on a hot summer Liverpool evening. Bliss!

And of course- walking up to Anfield and seeing those words on the wall- THE KOP....

Anfield - Walking on the pitch for the McCartney gig was inspiring!
Walker - Home to one of my favourite paintings, Echo and Narcissus by John William Waterhouse
River - Love looking out to the water. Like most in Liverpool, my family is connected to a sea life. Also love hearing seagulls walking though town
St Georges - Mainly cause its one of the first things I see when returning home from wherever
Chinese Arch - Love the festival for Chinese new year

Lived here for all my (nearly) 24 years and I've never done it, will have to sort that out.

Coming from a scouser now living away from the city:

The fact that the chippys in Liverpool do kebabs and Chinese.  Not been to another city in the country that does that!
The accent/The people
The purple CofC lights on the flyover when your coming in on the M62
The Liver birds
The Albert Dock/Waterfront as a whole.
Anfield.
The fact that I moved to Leeds when I was 9 (im now 24) and I still call Liverpool home

The list could go on forever.........Can't wait to move home again!!

An old favourite was emerging from the old tunnel with the museum and George's Hall coming into view.  Awesome.

A recent one is emerging from the new Strand Street 'Q Park' in front of the Albert Dock which seems to loom right on top of you now.  Seeing it heaving with people is just brilliant!

Oh yes, the Cruise liners are fab.

And the view from the panoramic restaurant!

Can I add the arena?

And the new found optimism and pride is best of all.
A travesty of a sham of a mockery.

this is good news
City among Britain’s top breaks

Sep 4 2008 by Ben Schofield, Liverpool Daily Post

LIVERPOOL has fought off tough competition to be rated the UK’s third favourite city for holidays.

It beats Cambridge, Durham and Manchester in a run-down of the top city break destinations, compiled by Conde Nast Traveller readers.

In what is thought to be a surge linked to the Capital of Culture celebrations, Liverpool jumped four places – from seventh to third – since the last survey.

With a score of 86.78 out of a possible 100, it was narrowly beaten by London, with 90.22, and Edinburgh, which scored 88.15.

City leaders said yesterday they are designing 2009’s events calendar with the aim of challenging Edinburgh for a place in the top two.

Conde Nast Traveller’s editor-in-chief Sarah Miller said: “A lot of readers seem to have experienced Liverpool for the first time and thought ‘wow’.

“Liverpool’s very much in people’s minds. They are reading about it, seeing it on telly, they hear about it and want to know about it.”

According to Culture Company figures, Liverpool has enjoyed media coverage worth £70m, which includes 7,500 national and international newspaper articles up to the end of July.

Ms Miller added: “It didn’t surprise me that it scored high for culture.

“I think Liverpool’s image has come a long way from how our readers perceived it a few years ago.”

Around 40,000 readers completed the survey during April and May.

The list is printed in the edition of the magazine published today. Readers were asked to rate cities on aesthetics and architecture, culture, environmental friendliness, food and restaurants, nightlife and entertainment, people and hospitality, accommodation, safety and value for money.

Ms Miller said the city excelled at aesthetics and architecture, people and hospitality, and accommodation, which all scored more than 90 out of a possible 100.

Its lowest score was for safety, which was in the 70s.

One thing that really amazed me were the sea gulls. I just left Lime Street and heard them. It may sound a bit foolish but you know here in Munich there aren´t much around and they are spread around in the city in Liverpool.
One afternoon I walked around in the city centre and suddenly it makes woosh and shit came from heaven. I laughed my ass off because it was maybe 2 centimetres in front of my feet so very close :D

There are also a lot of friendly people who are always willing to help you

Been a bit mad the past few months and been training for a marathon.  Been doing a lot of running round town.  Pretty stunning that i can go out for a run along the prom (otterspool way) and take in the mersey, new arena, albert dock, princes parade (not all there yet but getting there!), metropolitan cathedral, rodney street and hope street.  Pretty amazing really.  Think hope st is one of the gems in the city.  Nothing better than going to Quarter for some top quality cheap food (book ahead).

I also think Liverpool One is pretty boss.  The old buildings at the back of the Bluecoat and towards the end of paradise street are pretty cool.  Love the way they have kept the fronts of the old buildings.  The old buildings that have been kept on hanover street look good the way they have done the lighting.
