A message from Paul Scraton
« on: April 29, 2016, 03:15:06 pm »
We received the message below to the RAWK email and we are delighted to pass it on. We are immensely grateful for all of the sacrifices that the Scraton family will have made over the last 27 years. Without them, we may never have prevailed.

Quote
Hi Guys,

My name is Paul Scraton. I think you know my Dad! Anyway, I read on the forum today someone wondering about the impact Hillsborough has had on Dad and his family and it inspired me to write this blog post:

https://underagreysky.com/2016/04/28/27years-hillsborough/

I am not a member of the forum, so I would be grateful if you could share the text on RAWK. You can copy and paste it all - I don't care about links or anything - but I thought you might be interested in these reflections.

Thanks so much for all the support you have give to him over the years... it means a lot to him, and to us, that there is such a community out there.

All the best from Berlin,

Paul

I earlier came across this video of a great lecture given by Phil from a couple of years ago on researching Hillsborough.  Well worth a watch

Back in 2009 a few of us started the Steven Cohen boycott. That is when I got in contact with Prof. Phil.

I don't want to drag that all up again but Phil was most helpful in putting our point across versus the lies Cohen was airing.

The boycott was successful and Cohen took his program off the air. All we wanted was him to offer a full apology and not tell the lies on air again or him off his show. Instead he took his program off the air.

Prof. Scraton has done himself and the community proud. A most humble man.

Either we are a club of supporters or become a club of customers.

Paul, thanks hugely for this post. I think mine might have been the post you're talking about....
Without wishing to form a 'pecking order' of the legends emerging in the past 27 years, I have absolutely no doubt about 2 things.

First, without the work and the forensic detail applied by Professor Scraton, the fight for justice would most likely have died in the 'fallow years' as you eloquently put it. There would not have been the HIP or this week's verdict.

Second, the ultimate 'Hero of Hillsborough' is Phil Scraton.

Thank you Paul. Having had the privilege of meeting Phil several times - and literally holding him up after the 4th goal went in v Dortumnd (:P) he speaks so lovingly of his family and the support that YOU have given HIM over the years.

I say this without fear of exaggeration or ridicule but he deserves a knighthood for his services to people everywhere who suffer injustice and harm.

Whether he'd accept it or not is a different debate ;D

That's a great lecture, with a really powerful message: We must speak Truth unto Power.

If the corruption of evidence Prof Scraton describes isn't Misconduct in Public Office, I don't know what is. And their deliberate smears and inventions of responsibility sounds like a clear attempt to Pervert the Course of Justice. I look forward to seeing those who perpetrated this disgrace answering these charges in the very courts they deceived for so long.

Regarding Dan Gordon's film on youtube it is fifteen minutes short because of adverts in the USA so it' not the complete film ... what is shown in FACT on Saturday id the full film with a new ending filmed only last week.

What an incredible man, There from day 1 for the families. His books were not just a education of Hillsborough, they were a education of just what's wrong with our society, our media our establishment and our justice system. you read his books and you know what went wrong that day and you know who was responsible.
I formed many views of life and our society after reading Phils book and watching his lectures, those views and opinions will stay with me for life.
