Bobby and Sterling in a dribble face off in the City RH corner. Bobby wins but Zabaleta makes amends with a lunge as bobby ghosts past Stirling.

In the meanwhile, Adam brought down, Bravo with an unconvincing punch clear.

27' - ohhhhh, that was a stunning pass from Milner that had Bobby controlled it, would have been number 2.

Two mins later Can with an attempt that flies high and to the right of the post.

31' - Mignolet pulls a Grobbelaar and takes an extra touch with Aguero in close proximity outside the box. He pulls it off and gets the ball away safely.

I'd be fascinated to know what Guardiola spoke about with the players, pre-match.

They've given little indication of having anything approaching a plan. That said, we have been terrific.

38' - City with a rare spell of possession in our third. Solid line of reds force Stirling to retreat and the ball is worked to the left on,y to be booted directly out.

45' - Reds kick off and send the ball forward immediately. Sterling with a run down the right, is blocked, boots it into a red shirt and we break off the press. Ball is worked down the left and makes it way to Clyne in the box.

He's wrong footed and kicks the ball well wide.

51' - frantic one touch football for the last few minutes. Ball ends with Hendo who attempts a weighted through ball but it's too heavy, too straight, and, there's no one remotely near it.

53' - City with break, the ball is fed to Aguera down the middle who shoots straight at Simon who collects it comfortably.

The reds have been sloppy in passing the ball to City players.

Silva with a run through and shot to Simon's right. Well wide but City appear to have upped the tempo a bit.

City have had far the better of the last 5 minutes here. We're giving space to the likes of Silva and he's literally the last person you want to be giving space to.

56' - Toure with a long diagonal cross into the left hand side of the box. Sterling comes running in at pace but can't control and shins it into the side netting.

Fortunately it's poorly taken and Simon collects from a 40 yard shot.

Anfield starts to raise the sound level sensing that the lads in red have gone slightly off the boil.

60' - The Keystone Cops disguised as Gini makes an appearance in our penalty area and we're fortunate that nothing bad happened.

64' - City with a short FK. The ensuing passage of play is frenetic as City fail to use the ball. We break at high speed and end up with Bobby being fouled on the edge of the City box. Ref says play on and the ball is worked back where the ref does give City a FK that de Bruyne wastes by kicking it straight into Simon's hands.

67' - Nearly caught out by not playing to the whistle. Lino makes a baffling decision ruling the ball didn't go out. Adam and others stopped but not James - takes Sterling out and earns a goalkick.

Frenetic end to end stuff at the moment.

Origi received the ball on the left but is isolated. Earns a corner.

71' - de bruyne delivers a corner into the crowd in front of Simon. Picked up and cleared by a red shirt. Ball is worked forward, Mane and Origi do well to press it forward but Bravo is able outfox Origi and clear.
