I remember someone complaining that we were being too confident before the last match against Sunderland. Sunderland. When they were bottom of the league.

We're fitter than them. We're better than them. We have a better manager than them. We have better fans than them. Sound. I think we'll beat them.

Any news on Jordan anyone ?

Doesn't seem to be much new information, but he only seems to be a "doubt" rather than 100% out of the match.

I think energy is a massive part in the way we play.

I would be looking to use Lucas, Sturridge, Origi, Matip (if fit)... as they are fresh and all good players.

I'd go:

Mignolet

Clyne Matip Klavan Milner

Lucas

Can---------Lallana

Mane

Sturridge Origi

With Firmino, Wijnaldum able to come on after 45 - 60 mins and give their energy after.

That's the type of thing I'd do.

This is the exact game where we should rotate, as we have the players to do so and two games in three days means it should happen IMO.

Just seen Burnley's goals from yesterday, the defending was awful. Sturridge and Origi would tear them apart. The keeper looked poor too.

Sunderland are still in the part of the season where they don't see as getting 3 points mandatory. They'll try to scrape out a draw, and theoretically try to win the "easier" games against their direct rivals. Could be a frustrating afternoon like last time we play them. The difference with this Liverpool team is that it has shown patience, and composure to win games.

Time to spank these.
No excuses, just press them and don't stop until Moyes is sacked.

:lmao :lmao :lmao

Well said.

I'm also of the opinion that we won't make too many changes here. Klopp doesn't tend to unless forced.

Having said that, little point in having Danny in the squad if he doesn't start in situations like these.

I want to see Origi and Sturridge both playing, but don't want us changing our system, so I think Mane makes most sense in a three. Firmino could do with a rest, and could provide a spark from the bench if needed.

Back five unchanged, as it's just the fullbacks who have lots of running to do (but thankfully both Clyne and Milner are supremely fit). Can, Wijnaldum and Lallana in midfield, assuming Henderson's injured.

Our next league game isn't until the 15th, 2 cup games in between, the first against a lower league club at Anfield.
Play the strongest side as possible, beat Sunderland then worry about everything else later. Two weeks rest if needed before Utd.

How come Klopp rested everyone in the cup games then? Said all this about "we don't want to rest players, we are just giving ourselves the best chance of winning the game" and that was with a decent rest?

I'd make a couple of changes, we dug deep as fuck yesterday, despite not giving city a sniff we still worked out bollocks off and there's such a small turnaround that I think it would make sense to bring one or two in. Keep the same back four, Hendo could be a doubt so midfield three of Lallana, Can and Wijnaldum. Mane right side, Firmino left and being Sturridge down the middle. I'd expect by Sunderland to let us have as much of the ball as we want, especially after there result against Burnley.

Keep the pressure on Redmen!

Not sure we can keep asking Milner and clyne to play 90 minutes in that system and I think we'll rest one of them at least. Moreno probably starts. I'd like to see TAA but Clyne seems to be a physical freak so he'll probably just keep going!

The turnaround of less than 44 hours is ridiculous. I imagine there will have to be some changes and think both Studge and Origi will probably start and wouldn't be surprised if Lucas started either.

Klopp doesn't usually take many chances with player's fitness and the short turnaround means it's almost certain there'll be a bunch of changes, maybe something like...

............................Mignolet.........................................

Clyne........Lovren.................Klavan...............Moreno

...........................Lucas.........................................

.............Can.....................Milner..........................

Mane.................Sturridge................................Origi

Depending on the fitness of others there might be more changes e.g. is Clyne ready to play another game if not we'll see AA start, who is looking the best out of Milner,
Wijnaldum, Lallana for one of the midfield spots.

Just a horrible team to play 44 hours after City.

They aren't good but the way football goes, you could see a skanky upset.

Just hope we are focussed.

Moreno, Lucas, Sturridge, Origi in surely at least. I'd take Henderson, Lallana, Wijnaldum and Firmino out. Now's the time to utilise the squad. Wouldn't mind seeing Grujic or Ejaria but I don't want to see Stewart or TAA to be honest.

Yeah that's first choice but it'll depend how they come out the City game - Klopp seems to really like Ejaria so if he makes a midfield change wouldn't be surprised if he came in for whoevers most knackered out of Gini/Lallana

That would be a massive call and I would expect Milner to move inside if someone is knackered and Moreno to play.

Based on what Physioroom is saying and with Jones suspended, it looks like they only have about fifteen fit first-team players, so I am assuming Moyes will have to add a few youth players to make up the bench. It also sounds like Sunderland got permission to keep Khazri and N'Dong for this game, as they are playing in the AFCON.

He'll probably have to pick from Mannone, Mika, van Aanholt, Manquillo, Love, Djilobodji, O'Shea, N'Dong, Rodwell, Khazri, Pienaar, Larsson, Januzaj, Borini, Defoe.

I noticed O'Shea was subbed off around the 72 min mark.  Was that also an injury?
