Roy, nice guy...but it just didn't work out.
« on: January 8, 2011, 11:26:32 am »
I'd just like to say I am glad that Roy has left, and especially that King Kenny is back. It was clear to see that he was very much out of his depth and it is certainly the best for both parties that he has moved on.

However, I'd just like to say thank you Roy for trying, I certainly think he did, I've always thought he was a gentleman and I always will, and as I've said before, I'm glad he has left for the sake of his own health.

Best of luck in the future Roy.

I'm glad on both counts .

His position's been untenable for a long time , but I thought some of the venom directed his way has been unbelivable.

Like I said in the Roy's Gone thread, I'd never celebrate a manager leaving, even one so abject as Hodgson. I remember a lot of us on this board having a go at Man City fans when Hughes was sacked last year.

Roy just wasn't good for us and was found out. Our anger should be directed at Purslow for hiring him in the first place - but that can wait. Now is the time to get behind King Kenny and the lads and give the Mancs a whipping tomorrow.

Managed us during a very difficult period - getting rid of G&H was the best thing that happened last year.

Results have not been good enough so this was inevitable.

Kenny needs to steady the ship and then we need a good appointment in the summer....

Err, isn't this almost a carbon copy of certain other threads? Well, gonna repeat myself and wish Roy all the best for the future. And with no sarcasm intended( really), I hope he realises that away games make up half of the season.

I agree 100%. It was clear he was not up to the job and it was known for a while that NESV were searching for a replacement. However some of the personal insults was unnecassary in the conviction that they were given. I understand he didn't back the players, which he should've done, he didn't make correct tactical decisions and that he blamed anyone but himself, but he was still a Liverpool manager trying to do the best he could, and a man as well. Thought "Fuck Off Hodgson" chants took it a little too far.
