Liverpool 1-1 Man City (2-1): (Gerrard, pen) Half time.....
« on: January 21, 2012, 09:56:17 pm »
Well half the team seemed to be thinking about it today so we may as well start talking about it.
Not even going to try and work a team out as clearly heads are going to roll.

Big game, 90 minutes from Wembley, let's forget about today and move on.
COME ON RED MEN!!!

Fucking come on, will be a boss night at Anfield this, backs to the wall stuff for large periods i'm sure but what a great chance we've got of winning a trophy, avoid defeat at home and beat a Championship side.
Didi Hamann

In the corridors and changing rooms of Anfield I met many people - the great, the talented, the legendary.  I know that I only met one genius.  He was a small, smiling man with a neatly clipped beard.  His name was Rafael Benitez.

I'm scared of David Silva, could of done with Lucas for this, hopefully Spearing can have the game of his life, if he does that'll go a long way to deciding who will be at Wembley in February

  • Pass and move!
Our available attacking player, Carroll, Kuyt, and Downing are out of form, Bellamy can't play so soon, and Maxi needs Suarez so I think we should employ the same defensive system we used so successfully to kill the first leg, 1 - 9 - 1  ;D

Seriously, If we do have a midfield, then I'd like to see Aurelio as DM if Spearing isn't fit.  So, usual back 5, Aurelio, Henderson and Gerrard in midfield,  Attackers all poor currently so play any number, doesn''t matter as none will score.
Rossiter absolutely bossed it tonight. Really believe he'll end up playing more games this season than Lucas.

Henderson won't make it here. Sorry but he won't and won't

Hopefully this will brighten our week after yesterday. It goes without saying that we are going to have to perform a lot better. Surely getting to Wembley will be enough motivation for the lads. We need Spearing back or they will run riot.

Come on Redmen!

How far the mighty have fallen when we cry out for Spearing to step up and be the difference for a cup semi vs the best team in the League

Or..

How fucking immense is Spearings development?

If fit, that's what I'd go for.  We desperately need someone in midfield who can defend and Spearing could be crucial.

Given some of the recent threads and posts within them we haven't got a chance.
I might as well sell my tickets to anyone who wants them, if I can get a price, and go and support Man City. They seem to win stuff and seem like a nice club.

Prediction - 10-0 to City.

I would've been a lot more excited and confident had yesterday not happened.

At the beginning of the game yesterday I'd have thought it'd be pretty much the same side on Wednesday but now I haven't got a clue. Just hope they show a bit more heart and passion than yesterday.

I still think we should be able to hold out for at least a draw.

Spearing is alright, won't let us down, and has came on a lot.

But yes. From Masch, Xabi and Gerrard to this. Shocking.

The season-ender to Lucas has hurt us far more than Luis' absence.

Players better fucking deliver seeing as these next 2 games were what they were thinking about yesterday. Hope a few Of the spineless fuckers from yesterday are benched. Give them something new to think about instead of upcoming games!

Give Kelly, Jonjo and a couple of others a chance ahead of some of the non performers from the weekend.
Has Steven Gerrard scored a goal even more important than the one he got against Olympiakos - Is this the start of something BIG?

To be honest, I'd prefer Dirk instead of Carroll. Dirk's better at getting around the pitch and there will be moments in the game wheen we wont have much of the ball. Having Dirk to apply pressure on the ball in those situations might be crucial.

Hopefully Bellamy can deal with 2 games or maybe even 3 games in such a short space of time. We really need him to.

People are just gutted after that shite pathetic display and its understandable that people don't feel so confident at the moment, we played like a mid table team and are coming up against possibly the best team in the league.(yes i know we beat them in the first leg but if we play like we did against bolton we are getting hammered either way)

I'll be going and getting behind the team just like i have for every other home game.

Downing      Carroll        Bellamy

Would Kenny give it to Bellamy? He likes resting him a lot and I think he'll go a lot more defensive in this game maybe something like:

                     Reina
  Johnson Skrtel Agger Enrique
                   Spearing
Henderson Gerrard Adam Downing
                 Carroll

As much as I don't want to see that formation and leaving Carroll isolated up top on his own I can see it happening.

edit - having a little think about this think i'd rather have shelvey than Adam but it'll never happen

Can't play any worse than we did against Bolton, think the lads will be well up for this, wanna prove their fit to wear the shirt and a semi final at home. Not sure who he'll pick, have to wait nearer the time but would like Spearing back

I like that team - far better than the one that started yesterday. Though I would probably swap Bellamy and Carroll (keep Craig fresh for Saturday) and maybe Kuyt for Downing.

Doubt we'll see Savic.  They'll do something; move Richards over or something, but he surely won't play Wednesday.  We're not that lucky.

Not feeling too confident, but if ever there were a game to turn things around, it's this one.  And if ever there were a club that was great at turning things around when it's not going well, it's ours.

If we get a result, I think we might go on to win a few in a row.  If we don't, well ... it could be a long couple of months.  It's a big game for us, is what I'm saying.
