I know Sturridge has come back from a long layoff but he has to be scoring that chance. Hopefully we get the 2nd goal early on to calm the nerves.

Need another one at least to put these lot away

Sturridge looks rusty

Sterling has struggled to get in the game with the attention Burnley are paying to him,

would like to see more end product and decisiveness from Moreno, he's too conservative with his runs, need more directness at times from him to offer some variation

Coutinho nearly scoring the same goal again!

Just need to put this to bed now. We'll take another one of these chances soon

Need another goal here. Keeper keeping them within range.

Hate these glitchy streams - mine cut to a replay of Gerrard's goal v Olympiakos at 29 minutes for some reason!

I can't make out who is who on mine its that blocky. Still managed to see the beautiful goal though.

Should be 2-0 really, Burnley doing Dyche proud with their effort, but the quality is all ours. Sturridge is clearly lacking sharpness, but it will click soon. Lovren is playing well. Second good game in a row. Good to see. Sterling a bit wasted out on the right though. Other than that, a good solid half, and we should get at least one more goal in the second half.

Noticed he's been calmer today, far less of the 'quick look up and loft it forward (to nobody)'. Noticeably better though, agreed!

yeah shame to see that he seems to have lost his touch since coming back
but he ain't going to regain it without playing time....

That's football.

He needs to relax and just do it without thinking.  He will be fine.

Looking good so far. Great shot again by Henderson. Lovren and Skrtel have been lights out in defense. Sturridge has been a bit waste in possession and with his chances. That match sharpness just hasn't quite returned yet.

Another quality goal, nice one Hendo! We only seem to be scoring from outside the box at the moment ;D

Yet again a top performance all around, another goal or 2 would be very welcome though. Keep it up lads :)

Burnley are being bold to be honest, almost 4-2-4 like at times but looking for the long ball forward. We are replying with a bunch of midfield bypassing long balls to catch them out (and perhaps also because our back three are being pressed or pressured). Burnley can't get their wide men in the game, though.

We look confident and composed, playing well. Just would like to see a greater use of Sterling who I think is lively. Coutinho and Lallana both very creative. Moreno is the attacking weak link at the moment, which is not surprising given what surrounds him!

I don't think we've played as well as the commentator has hinted at, but it's been a solid 6.5 / 7 out of 10 sorta game from us so far. Created a few chances with a couple of great saves, and kept them pretty quiet at the other end. Another goal please and I'll gladly take a hopefully-comfortable 2-0.

Interesting that Sturridge and Sterling continue to struggle (relatively speaking) though both are still dangerous. Positive signs when those two aren't hitting proper form over a series of (big) games but you've got Coutinho, Lallana and others to fill in.

At the moment Allen and Henderson are vying for MOTM again.... both are doing a great job.

Seems we've been practising that curling shot from outside the box. First Henderson hits it, then Coutinho. Now this game Coutinho and Allen are putting decent efforts in from the same spot.

Just leave Sturridge on, he'll bag today.
If he's being asked to head the ball too frequently - which isn't exactly his specialty - it could affect his ear and cause an infection. Especially if the ball hits him on the ear directly.

Thought he telegraphed what he was doing for the one on one. Last season's Sturridge puts that away with his eyes closed. It'll come.

Cannot get enough of Joe "already on the half turn when receiving a pass" Allen.

Keeping up the good performances. Does the system suit his game? Less onus on him to get involved in the physical side of things. He can float, and play smart football, always keeping the thing moving.

Just sayin', like :D

I'd stick with Lovren, if for no other reason than if they intend to play the long ball up to our defenders and press us (a legitimate and dangerous tactic to the unprepared defence) - and they played a total of 82 long balls in the game at theirs - then having someone like Lovren who is happy to play it back in behind, with Can on the other side who is equally happy playing a long pass, will be better than Sakho, who has a tendency to try to play out all of the time. Lovren, in fact, could end up being almost a "secret weapon" in this sense, as a long ball back in behind their pressing midfielders, into Coutinho, could set them up for a lot of overloads around their area. The trade-off, then, is for them to drop off to fill that space, at which point their entire gameplan for regaining the ball is out the window.

:D

Lovely stuff from Henderson, Allen, Adam, and Phil. The whole team is playing well, on the same wavelength, and Sturridge is making the right runs as usual although his first touch needs to improve quickly. In short, we've got this. Come on, Redmen!
