I would like to see..

                            Doni

   Flanagan     Skrtel   Wilson    Robinson

               Spearing    Shelvey

    Maxi            Henderson          Sterling

                         Kuyt

Kenny will most likely put a stronger team than that out though  :P

We have a good chance of winning this competition,  especially with attitides like Colin Wanker's (glad to have been knocked out).  In the early 80s we used to win this cup regularly and winning this would be a great way to get back to silverware winning ways and with no European games I am hoping that we field decent teams.  More good news is that Northampton are out already :)

You'd think with Birmingham winning it last year some of the so called lesser clubs would take it as a serious opportunity to actually win some silverware! I guess QPR think they are too big for the LC. Sad.

Exeter fan Matt Crocker provides the view from St James Park ahead of tonight's Carling Cup second round encounter.

What were your thoughts when Exeter v Liverpool came out of the proverbial hat?

Where and when do I get tickets?! In all seriousness, it was great to get THE plum draw in the cup (although obviously an away trip to Anfield would've been more exciting) and yet another big milestone in the resurgence of Exeter City. Honestly, it's probably as much as we deserve after not winning in the League Cup since 1993.

Best and worst thing about a trip to St James Park?

I'd say the best thing is the friendliness of the supporters and locals - expect a warm welcome to the park. The worst thing for you guys will easily be the away end - have fun with that!

One song we're bound to hear?

Although some of us hate to allow that club down the road to sully our big matches, you'll almost certainly hear some anti-Argyle songs, as well as 'There's Only One Adam Stansfield' in remembrance of our striker we sadly lost to bowel cancer just over a year ago. Expect the atmosphere from the Big Bank (the well-loved terrace behind the goal) to be amazing and expect to make absolutely no noise from your end, which we will rib you over!

Players we need to keep an eye on?

If Bauza plays he's definitely one to look out for - has proven to be an excellent signing so far. James Dunne is another one to watch.

How will your gaffer play it?

Tisdale is a superb manager and it's a miracle we've kept hold of him. I fully expect him to treat you as any League One team and go out there for a win. We'll be playing a free-flowing, passing brand of football that you may not be expecting.

Weak links?

The early season so far has been riddled with injuries, especially up front. We may well be lacking the cutting edge in the box.

Liverpool players you're secretly hoping to see playing at St James Park?

There's no-one I'm really that fussed about seeing. As a lil'un my token Premiership team was Liverpool but thanks to home town influence and indoctrination from my dad I soon snapped out of it and haven't looked back for the last decade. That said, I'll be happy if Dalglish takes us seriously enough to put a proper side out (he may regret it if he doesn't).

Tell us something we don't know about Exeter City...

Under our current manager we have never failed to improve on the previous season. We are now also one of only two league clubs owned by a fans' trust after AFC Wimbledon got promoted.

Prediction?

A hearty and respectable 2-0 defeat for us.

Reckon we may well see Raheem Sterling become the youngest ever player for Liverpool tonight.

Think Doni will play as well, but it looks like it could be a strong team with the likes of Maxi involved.

Would love to see Raheem start/get on tonight.

Can see spearing and shelvey starting CM, not basing this on anything on other than gut feeling mind you.

Carroll could start, I think N'Gog to Bolton is close so i doubt he'll be involved.

I wonder who's gonna play. Hopefully Kenny will be tempted to try using future prospects in place of the kling-ons, e.g. Coady/Shelvey rather than Poulsen and Sterling/Ngoo rather than Joe Cole. Not sure what kind of starting line-up we'll have but it'd be cool as Raul to see this kind of team at some point during the game:

                     Keeper

Flanagan  Skrtel  Carragher  Robinson

               Spearing Shelvey
Downing                             (Meireles)

              Carroll    Sterling

As I think Carroll would really benefit by having a tiny speedy nuisance up front with him, plus Raul's movement would support Carroll well

Just in case anyone doesn't know and wants to pass this on to those on coaches (or if you're reading this on a coach) the Devon police have been in touch with the Union (after we approached them) and confirmed the convoy out will be escorted out of Exeter after the match (and not allowed to stop) until coaches get on the M5 at Junction 30.

The next services are the ones at Taunton about 25 miles on.

Fear that second string side might not be good enough due to the fact they haven't played with each other at all, it could be rough first few minutes, hopefully quality can get us the win
The greater danger for most of us lies not in setting our aim too high and falling short; but in setting our aim too low, and achieving our mark.
