Looks like Day has withdrawn after playing six holes, so anyone who has picked him is down to four players.

After day one, Gerry and Pete's picks have three points, mine have two, olly's are on 1.5, while dudley's have all suffered defeats.

Wiesberger plays Noren today, if he can win that match he should be able to win the group.

I've got high hopes of Kjeldsen. Sure I backed him in a Matchplay event before and he did well.  Not brilliant reasoning for a pick I know but hope he delivers. :)

Mcilroy V Woodland half or a Mcilroy win would be nice if Soren can beat Grillo.

Shite from Pieters too, don't think I'll be getting many points from this.

Gary Woodland withdraws giving Mcilroy the win

But that means Kjeldsen needs just a half to go through tonight.

Indeed, so probably not such good news for McIlroy.

If Grillo beats Kjeldsen and McIlroy beats Grillo there'll be a play-off. Seems possible.

It surely is possible, but it would have been better for McIlroy if Kjeldsen had two chances to lose a match.

Having said that, and despite having picked him, I'll be perfectly happy if the Manc is sent packing tonight. :)

P.S. Why did you delete that post? :)

I deleted my post because I'm a bit confused regarding the format of this event. If Kjeldsen and McIlroy both finish with 2 wins 1 loss I don't know if Kjeldsen would go through as he beat McIlroy.

No, there'd be a playoff, there are no other tie-breaking rules.

Kjeldsen is 3 up with 6 to play, so I think that's settled.

That also means that every one of us will have at least one player eliminated by the end of play today.

Of our picks, Wood and Wiesberger have been eliminated today, but it looks like Sullivan, McIlroy, An and Luiten will be joining them soon.

I like Match Play golf but I wish they'd just revert to straight knockouts instead of Round Robin. I think it's a bit of a slog to get through so much golf and makes it really tough for older players to win it.

I agree. And the fact that many players have nothing to play for on the final day of group play takes the sting out of it, too.

Yeah there's quite a few players who have no chance of qualifying today no matter what they do and I guess would rather have just flew home last night.

Tricky one as players won't want straight knockout and risk flying in for one round - the trade off is dead matches today- that's  caused by only one to qualify

Local lad Rafael Campos is doing really well.  He must know this track like the back of his hand.

Top 10 finish in this last year too and why I picked him.  Didn't have much else to go on.

Hopefully the occasion and stuff doesn't get to him.

Talking of having nothing to play for, Wood isn't even trying against Na. I'm only interested because I picked Thomas, of course. ;)

Haas, on the other hand, is getting some help from Willett, but he still has a lot to do himself.

The last 16 lineup is very underwhelming.
