I'm on 02 network how do you download the new ICS onto the phone. Do they send you a notification about a update?

You need to install Samsung Kies if you don't already have it, then plug your phone into your computer by USB. It should then popup that an update is available.

Ah thanks. Already has Kies on the phone so might try that tonight if I can find my USB for it.  :)

Do you have log in details to view your account on their website. Not sure about Orange as never been with them, but often you are able to request the config be sent to your phone through the website.

EDIT: After a not very interesting trawl through their help section I finally found this, might help - http://orangeotm.wdsglobal.com/orange/internet?step=modelselection.vm&countryId=36&networkId=85&contractId=230&captchaEnabled=false&phoneId=4211

Working now. Thanks a lot buddy.

You'll need Kies on your PC as well. You can download it from http://www.samsung.com/uk/support/usefulsoftware/KIES/JSP.

£17 a month for 24 months, 300 mins, unlimited text booster, 750mb internet & free phone.

That was what was agreed when I accepted although they reneged and put me down as 100 mins only, played holy shit with them, told them they can pick their brand new and opened phone up and I'll go elsewhere. After 2 weeks of pissing about they gave me the deal they agreed originally.

I do believe the girl made a genuine error on the mins when I upgraded but tough shit, that was the deal I agreed and was prepared to walk away although I wouldn't have got a deal anywhere near that.

Holy shit... i've got the same deal as you but i'm paying £10 more than you monthly and i had to pay £100 upfront for the phone but that's cos i just opened an account with them. But even with my dad's they would only go down to £60 upfront for the phone.  :no

I have just downloaded Kies for my laptop and connected the phone up. Did a firmware update, but its still on Gingerbread. :-( However, there appears to be some little improvements to the GUI.

Yep but read my post on the last page re emails deleting since upgrading to ICS. I spoke to Voda 'support' who washed their hands of the problem and told me to contact Samsung. A full factory reset sorted the problem but I remain unconvinced that Voda have fully checked this and there's plenty of threads complaining about it on the Voda forums.

Seems like the S3 has leaked.

http://www.engadget.com/2012/04/20/galaxy-s-iii-leak/

I don't understand how leaks always come from a random guy who managed to get their hands on it. How did they manage it? Maybe their the ones that are building it but he's going to be screwed in court.

Got ICS on HTC sensation with Vodafone about 3 weeks ago, isn't worth the hassle that comes with it, internet is slower I've just had to update 32 apps manually cos auto update kept stalling + that bloody face recognition seems good until you have to shove your face in front of your phone every time the screen 'times out'

I recommend deleting the Facebook app and using friendcaster instead. Massive battery improvements!

Finally got it working on mine. I have to agree, after the first day of using it I'm amazed by the improvement.

Up until the last couple of weeks JuiceDefender seemed to improve my battery a lot, with it being about 50-60% full after around 12 hours off charge instead of the previous 20-30%. However, over the last couple of weeks it seemed to have stopped working so well and my battery was still dying quick, with about 10-20% by this time of night.

As at the point of writing this, I have about 85% battery left, and all I've done is remove the Facebook app.

Just done the new update. Nothing amazing really, got bored of the face locking thing after 2 goes and i've had to re-do all my custom folders and organise home screens etc.

Any idea why they've got rid of Facebook syncing? The first thing i look at in my phonebook is the picture not the name so could take a bit of getting used to again.

Only thing for me not working so far is 4od.not to important like.swappables work just the same.

Organising folders within apps was easier.

Overall probably a slight improvement for my needs but i think i could have lived without it all the same. :P

Only problem for me is a minor one,  when you're browsing you used to be able to double tap and it would zoom in and resize the text, it would also allow you to scroll down without it moving sideways for easy reading, this doesn't appear to be able to do it. Oh well.

I'm on the standard browser by the way.

Ok, dumb question here...

I just put kies on my laptop, plugged the phone in, and it did loads of updates and whatnot.  So how do I know if I'm now on this Ice Cream Sandwich thing?  Love the name of it, by the way.

Also, have just been through most of this thread and downloaded Elixir, Lookout and JuiceDefender as per your recommendations - so thanks for that.

Cheers.  It's still on an older version, so will have to try again tonight.

On a seperate note, not too sure which I prefer, having the phone working super fast, but running out of juice if I use it a lot, or having the phone work a bit slower but the battery lasting a long time.  I guess that is the choice we have to make.
